Personally I like the slim, but if you interested in running mostly homebrew, the phat is recommend. Luckily I have both, but I like the slim because of how much lighter it is, now the phat feels like it weighs me down when using it.

So if you are mostly going to play games, slim is recommended in my opinion.

For homebrew applications mostly most would recommend the phat.
