| Re: Blu Ray Or HDDVD I never really had much doubt, but with Warners declared support its over, Blu ray has won this one.
I'm pretty happy about this for a couple of reasons:
1) I always own every game system, so I already have a PS3 and use its Blu ray functionality.
2) It IS a technically superiror product. Higher susteained bit rate = higher qulaity encoded content, even if using the same codec. Also the increased storage capacity is room enough for completely uncompressed audio. I always prefer higher fidelity, even if it costs me money (I would never think of listening to an MP3 for instance) - so the better format winning is good for me.
I feel sorry for those that have invested in HD dvd - particularly those that bought the cheap ones for xmas. Few will understand it when they find they can't buy any high def movies in 8 months time.. |
