They are not even close to hit bit rate 1080P uncompressed audio and instead have limited resolution, higher compression and seriously compressed audio. I'm not doubting theres a market for this low end quallity, but its not even close to a true high end HD format experience. |
True, a 720p version of a movie downloaded through the Xbox Live Marketplace for rent looks more like the dvd in 480p. ITS so freakin compressed its not even close to 720p. It looks better than Standard def and almost on par with a decent upscaling DVD player but watching normal DVD's with a very good DVD Upscaler is really nice, sometimes I can't tell the difference between my 1080p DVD upscaler from Panasonic, in HDMI, over the Blu Ray player, but thats only in some real life movies. In animation or CG, there is a tremendous difference, and the uncompressed sound is jaw dropping with a good set. Home theater is an understatement.
An Apple TV Box would be a step backwards. I like having movie collections. With BLU RAY and HD, the quality of videos and eye candy suddenly becomes a factor in what your going to watch, and its cool to buy Open Season just so that when people come over you can show off your awesome set.
IMO Apple is sucking lately. I think the Zune kills the iPod, and I have both. I think the iphone and itouch are nothing innovative. I think a super thin laptop thats still as big and wide as a normal 17" laptop is a waste of time and If I was to get a laptop, it'd actually be good, with a Windows operating system, more than a gig of ram, and more than a maximum of 80 freakin gigs of HDD space. I think they are desperate with their gay commercials on Mac OS trumphing Vista, when its clearly not true. In one of their top 10 reasons to get a Mac on their site, one of the top 5 is that it can also run Vista.
