Turok for PS3

Definitely a game that requires a lot of patience and skills to play.....solely due to the fact that it is just a difficult game....overall i'll give this game a 7 out of 10.....if u wanna find out why then continue reading....

Gameplay
Well lets start off.....ill try and add as little spoilers as possible in this review so u guys can get a taste of turok yourself.....but to start things off, you're stranded on an unknown planet with some dinosaurs and people with big guns that shoots anything that has a pulse. Gameplay wise, turok is totally average and reminds me abit like the game The Darkness....in terms of just gameplay.....because the contol scheme and the moving is somewhat similar. The game will definitely not blow your mind away....unless you have some sort of kinky relationship with dinosaurs cause if u do...then turok is definitely a must have for u. The AI is sometimes too smart or too dumb.....and it just really really annoys me when ur shotting 3 guys infront of u and then some whacko dinosaur comes from behind and takes you out.....the AI has a bit of a reaction time when they see u....giving u split second to take them out before they take u out....but once they do spot u....FIND COVER....cause they'll be shotting from left right and centre.......thats one problem i found in this game....there is a lot of open jungle...and finding cover isnt always easy....my tip is....stick to the walls.....or rocks. One thing i love about turok is the ability to wipe someone out in 1 hit with a knife....if u have played assassins creed on ps3, when u assasinate someone using ur hidden blade....it is exactly the same as taking someone out in turok with the knife. Its a refreshing feel....and killing dinosaurs in one slice is really something different.

Score - 7.5/10

Sound
I really enjoyed the sound used within the game....its unrealistic...making it simply wonderful.....when i say unrealistic...i mean in terms of knifing the dinosaur and the sound the dinosaur makes when a knife gets throbbed into its head. The music is also great......i mean its got a decent beat that allows you to feel relaxed at certain times within the game...and tensed in other parts of the game. It is one of the highlights in turok i rekon...is the sound. But compared to games like half life 2 the orange box...or call of duty 4.....its just a bar lower.

Sound - 7.5/10

Graphics
I read on the IGN review of the ps3 version of turok is that there is issues regarding frame tearing etc etc...i didnt think it would be much of a problem...well in fact... i thought i wouldnt even notice it...but the instant the very first custscene appeared in the game... i noticed a huge chunk of the screen just.....tearing.....it was very noticeable..but didnt bother me much.....its mainly the cutscenes when the tearing occurs....so it doesnt affect the gameplay...but it does affect the experience u have with the game. Graphics wise....i think the game is totally average...nothing that will blow your mind away....the graphics reminds me a lot like Uncharted drakes fortune...due to the fact that you're situated in a jungle area......but turok has some slight trouble making textures look smoother then it should.....there were times where i just looked at some parts of an enemies dead body and think.....the graphics are abit bad....but if u take the whole turok game whole....then the graphics are on par with uncharted...maybe abit worse...but its still definitely a next generation graphics game. Just not one of the very good ones.

Score - 6/10

Controls
Well to be totally blunt with you guys.......the games control is abit clumsy....i mean if u're playing on a console then auto aim would be a good feature to have...due to the fact that aiming with a stick is just too hard...its not precise enough.....turok didnt have any auto aim....and that was one of the reason why this game turned out to be a lot more difficult then its suppose to be.....it would take me sometimes up to 3 minutes trying to aim at a dinosaur that just wouldnt stand still......So unless u're an FPS expert on console controllers...then this game would be a stroll in the park...but those who prefer mouse and keyboard.....give this game a rent and afterwards decide whether or not a purchase is neccessary.

Score - 5/10

Lasting Value
Well the game took me 8 hours to beat..due to the fact of the countless times where i just got totally owned by dinosaurs jumping out from no where and people shotting me when they're not suppose to (seeing me when i made no indication of my location). Multi player isnt all that fun.....finding a match took quite a while...and once i did find one.....the lag was unbearable....maybe if i was lucky enough to find a server from my country...then my online experience would be a different story...but from the experience i had with the online play......its definitely a pass for me...i'd stick to call of duty 4 thank u very much.

Score - 7.5/10

Well i sure hope my review has helped u guys decide whether or not turok is a game for u.....I dont post on this forum much.....so i sure hope i've contributed to this society by writing this review....its one of a kind and u wont be seeing it anywhere else
