Not to mention the Wii itself is a hard system to get, if you never had a game system before and the Wii is your first one, I suppose having the games online to buy is something you may benefit from. I bought a 2000 point card so I could spend the points for the Opera browser, it's the only thing I have bought so far aside from the free updates and Metroid Preview. Personally speaking all the good games are not worth the 200-500 (I can't remember what I got left) Aside from some games I have on my PSP already. well there is one extended Mario bro's JP game I wanted to get, but I found the ROM the next day.
Well anyway I believe they need to make the channel more open so that other developers can make channels and have them be ready for you to use on the Wii. Personally I'd love to see PSPHacking101's WiiHacking101 on the Wii, or get the updated videos on the channel, same with OpenAlpha. Don't get me wrong, I love the Wii and the games you can go out and get are great but I think as far as retro games, they shouldn't be the only updated new thing you can do on the system and they shouldn't be the limit to all you can get as an alternative to the game discs. Originally Nintendo noted that you could use Legal roms on the SD card to play and save games and that the point system would have been set up so in a way where you earned them online in games. Like Smash Brothers and such. Basically the Wii Points system was based on your ranks and scores online, which I felt they should have stuck with in the first place, that would make the online community more active then the way they have it now. I mean the only want to communicate to people is through filtered software in the games, where if you don't have the "friend or Wii code" you can't say or do anything. Same goes for the mailing system, unless you have a friends Wii code you can't mail them Wii 2 Wii. Email can be done but you have to tell the people you add though and old email, call, or IM before they get it because you cannot edit the intro email, it just states Wii # wants to add you to the addressbook do you accept? ....if your friend hasn't a clue you have a Wii or that your the one sending the message and the messages starts out with a bunch of numbers chances are they will think it's spam. Not to mention you cannot give someone your Wiimail address without adding them first, all messages sent from them to you will not reach you until you manually add the recipients email address.
I'd say those are the only issues I have with the Wii really, point is that the online portion of the Wii can be improved. | I agree man. I bougth the points card mainly for the opera browser also. lol. And to use the rest i got mario kart 64. The system is annoying though. But i think nintendo wants to filter online play w/ friend codes is becuz theyre afraid of ppl doing inappropriate things like on halo. Cursing, dicrimination, etc. Cuz it is a "family" console after all. lol |
