I wish you could save after each level but if you want to save you either have to beat the mini castle, last castle, or the way I did it just save up 5 big coins and buy a mushroom house thing then press save. Don't worry about using all your coins because at the end of the game, once you beat world 8, you get one star next to your game file then to get two stars you have to unlock every single llevel and get all the big (star) coins in all the levels. Now to ge tthe 3rd star you just use all of the coins (you can buy wallpaper). Don't worry you have enough star coins to buy everything in teh game.....ok back to the save thing lol. Once you beat world 8 then you can save whenever you want while you are in the 'map' mode. Just press start and go to save.
