Poverty charities, Are they needed??

Everytime i turn on my there is ALWAYS an advert saying, Give money to this, with your help we can wipe out poverty. Are these charitys needed?? there is so much money going to africa and other needy places, but, look at china, they built up a country from scratch, no money, no charity needed. they did it themselves. So WHY do they need our money, the only reason they are in poverty is because their government spent money on themsleves.
They dug themsleves a hole, got stuck in it, and need help getting out.

Unlike China, Africa does not have many natural resources. Also we owe Africa money if it wasnt for us using it as a colony it probably would not be like this. Also we can kind of blame the g8 for Africa as well we gave them money and now we want it back. So its putting Africa in more strain.

Re: Poverty charities, Are they needed??

I tend not to bother with charities at all as you don't really know where the money is going. If anything I would rather give it to some poor schmuck on the street diggin through the trash for something to eat. But it is a shame when the tsunami hit Sri Lanka, people over here in the UK were asking for money to help the cause but were keeping it for themselves, not to mention the fact that the Sri Lankan government was living fat but yet still asked for aid...

Re: Poverty charities, Are they needed??

The qualm I have with charities, is that most of the money just goes back to the organization, to cover costs (supposedly). I think it would be much more worth it, it there was just one large charity where we could see the money was going to use, instead of hundreds of small ones who are all asking for money for the same thing anyway

china rules!

lol charity is good but the money is useless. with 5 dollars you can feed a family for a day. people take advantage and they stop farming or whatever cos we give them food. that just wastes our money and the africans are so used to free dinners they dont do anything. farming aint good in the lands either

Re: Poverty charities, Are they needed??

Charities say give us money. But after that, no one really knows what happens.

China is powerful, and they have a monarchy/dictatorship or what ever they have. They can control the people. But in Africa you have many different clans and villages in one country. It is hard to rally them to work together.

Though if you can check out the charity and see what happens with the money.

Re: Poverty charities, Are they needed??

I'd rather give my money to people who dig trashes and pick up cans to collect. i seriously really feel sad when i see people do those stuff. it just shows how life really is.

sorry im going a little bit offtopic
here's my opinion about this thing about africa.. well africa use to be in colonies.. look what happened when they wanted their freedom? people are starving and dying... i mean look at the philippines.. they wanted freedom from the US and look how the country turned out to be, 3rd world... it could have been another territory like puerto rico. you might think i want my country to be spoon fed, but i think having the US control our country like before is a better idea than giving it to corrupt presidents like we had for a long time now.

btw africa can be controlled, if it was under great countries, they could have supplied better education for the people. ethnic clashes would be solved because of the way they are taught. i mean its cool how they preserve there culture, but if they keep it up, they just die out.

I'd rather give food or clothes to the needy people than money because you don't know where the money will go. :p
