Re: Come here to get help on your Pokemon teams!

I got my 1st ever shiny last week in the safari - a carnivine & I've played all the Pokemon games from the GBC to the GBA & this was my 1st one ever, pity it wasn't something nicer but I will treasure it anyway!

Re: Come here to get help on your Pokemon teams!

A Question about Stats & Moves

For example my Haunter lvl 50

Attack 79
Defense 72
Sp Atk 133
Sp Def 69
Speed 127

I know that Speeds determines which Pokemon goes first in the battle but I am unsure if my knowledge on the other stats is correct.

On the description of moves there is Fighting (Yellow Star on Orange Background) Special (Circles on Purple Background) & Other (White thing on Beige Background). Based on my stats above I am under the impression that a Special move would have more power than a Fighting move for my haunter am I right?

Re: Come here to get help on your Pokemon teams!

Yes, lyzz.

Almost all psychic Pokemon will have extremely high special attack and speed. However, they sacrifice defense and attack for this. Gengar, Alakazam, Uxie (or the other one (not Mesprite)), and those type pokemon always have high special attack.

I suggest this move-set: Hypnosis, Dream Eater/Nightmare, Psychic, Shadowball.

Also, you can switch out psychic if you want for Shock Wave/Thunder Bolt if you want type variations. My Gengar has Hypnosis, Night Shade, Dream Eater and Shock Wave. It's entirely up to you however.

Re: Come here to get help on your Pokemon teams!

Haunter is a Ghost/Posion not Psychic

At the moment it has Mean Look, Shadow Punch, Shadow Ball & Dark Pulse

Only Kept Mean Look as a way to catch Legendary Pokemon that might easily escape like in Ruby/Sapphire.

So re the stats if for example my Pokemon has a higher Attack stat than its Special Attack stat then would a Fighting category move work better than a Special category move? Just wondered if I'm making the right choices when it levels up & tries to learn a new move.

For example my Torterra is lvl 42

Attack 108
Defense 116
Sp Atk 94
Sp Def 73
Speed 76

Leech Seed (grass type, category other, -- power)
Mega Drain (grass type, category Special, 40 power)
Razor Leaf (grass type, category Fighting, 55 power)
Bite (dark type, category fighting, 60 power)

Just for example say that Mega Drain & Razor Leaf had the same power, based on the Attack stat 108 & the Sp Atk stat 94 which would be more effctive the Fighting move of Razor Leaf or the Special move of Mega Drain?

I am thinking the Fighting move of Razor Leaf as my Pokemons Attack stat is higher than it Special Attack stat, is that correct?

lol I know. I just accidentally put him in that category since he is insanely fast.

Take off Shadow Punch. Replace it with a hypnosis. Also, if you want a psychic move I'd take out the Mean Look (after you get all your legendaries, and this is also for the sake of tourniment).

Yes. Fighting type moves are usually the best for physical attackers (like Machoke or Lucario if you train it that way).

I'd put in Wood Hammer for Mega Drain (because Wood Hammer is a good physical grass type), and replace Razor leaf with solar beam. Bite seems like a good choice, but if you can, get Crunch (if it's a TM). Leech seed isn't really needed. I'd have either Synthesis or Sunny Day. Or if you want, a nice Sludge Bomb. ; )

Razor Leaf (on the case, like you said, it had the same power) would be much better. Because Torterra has Over Growth as it's ability it would actually increase it's power by x1.5 instead of the normal power. So in reality, it's like having 162 attack instead of 108, essentially. And since your attack is far higher, it'd be a lot more effective than Mega Drain, which is a special attack.

Re: Come here to get help on your Pokemon teams!

Thanks for the advice, I have just beaten the Elite Four so just have the 3 Legendary pokemon to catch then I can transfer over my GBA pokemon

I'm thinking way ahead here but if they do another Pokemon game will it be on the DS or GBA? Cause if I transfer them over to Diamond is there anyway to transfer them back to the GBA games?
