Re: DS Noob Questions >.<

You only need a slot 2 cart to play GBA games. They are not needed to play NDS games. From what I have heard, they are trying to make it possible to play GBA games from slot 1, but as of now have had no success.

I bought my DS this last weekend at Costco, it was bundled with Yoshi's Island DS, I have heard a lot of good things about Costco's return policy and couldn't pass it up.

I have a friend whose Xbox 360 got the famous "Red Ring Of Death", after about a year of playing it, rather than having to send it to Microsoft to fix, he took it to Costco and they just gave him a new Xbox, they even let him swap his harddrive.

Sorry for getting a little off subject.

If CostCo has such a great return policy, I would just flash my DS and if it breaks bring it back to CostCo =D hah

Re: DS Noob Questions >.<

To flash the DS you would need a slot 1 passkey. To buy one would be about $20 (which kind of defeats the purpose of flashing it, since you now have a passkey), unless you have a friend that has a passkey that you can borrow to flash your DS. Plus, rather than paying $20 for a passkey, I would rather pay a little more for the R4DS which will allow me to play NDS games without flashing, and if I want to play GBA games from a slot 2 cart it will act as a passkey.

I have read the there are some negatives with flashing, one that I remember is decreased battery life (I don't know why, but it is what I read), plus the risk of "bricking" your DS if flashed incorrectly.

Anytime you are upgrading or modifying a devices firmware or operating system, it has a potential to brick. Usually if you follow the direction correctly it is pretty safe. I got an email yesterday saying that my R4DS has shipped. Now I have to wait 12-18 days for delivery. I will let you know how it works as soon as I get it.

R4DS, I ordered mine for $35 at Gameyeeeah.com, plus a micro SD card, I got a 1 gig card for 10 and newegg.com. So about $55-$60 once you incorporate shipping. Enjoy. Daniel

Re: DS Noob Questions >.<

Moonshell is used for playing multimedia files, looking at photos, and reading ebooks. The other two questions I am not too sure on.
