Sony releases new 18.4" laptop

Come the end of September and we'll see a new laptop from Sony. One that stands out from the crown with an 18.4" display.

Sounds awesome, but I really don't like the design, or the price .

I actually prefer smaller laptops. 1. is price. but 2. is its portability, I see some effin' massive laptops, and it just begins to get ridiculous. I dont want them too small but let's say it was a 12" screen, Id actually be cool with that, then BAM, look at how low the price is? =D

Yeah I know what you mean. Personally I always thought 17" was too big for a laptop, but cool at the same time.

I've got a netbook now, 10" widescreen, and now my partner's 15.4" lappy looks huge in comparison

can you give me a link? I'd search for it but doubt I would find what youre talking about. Im actually looking for a lappy that size, dvd burner (dual layer and dvd9 burning capability), 2gb's RAM and other than that, Im not picky XD (well, other than price...)

Good luck finding a 10" with a dvd drive, or even a cd drive.

I was specifically told the one draw back to netbooks is, no CD/DVD drive, unless you have an external one.
I have an external one and a computer so it isn't an issue for me, this is for just when I want to do work online perfect for that .

I have the Advent 4211. I was gonna get the EEE PC, but the keyboard is crap. Asus is ok, was gonna get one of them, £200, but got the Advent instead, 10 times as much HD, better specs overall really. And XP instead of Linux. aww, see I really like the style, it has decent ram, good HDD, I wouldnt mind that, Id try and up it by 1gb if I could, but the price is very good! (I converted it dont worry), sure itd cost more if it had a cd/dvd drive..but why couldnt they do that? it wouldnt be too much more. hopefully sony comes out with one. Im not in any rush, but a comp around that size, and all I want is a built in dvd burner, it sorta defeats the purpose to have it external...

if you ever get any new info on nice lappies such as this and it isnt any trouble to mention it on the forum/to me, thatd be very cool =] dont go out of your way though

I have a 11.1" 16:9 widescreen laptop (sony tz) and it has a dual layer dvd burner and 2GB of ram. ^_^

I thought the smallest was 13 inch by Sony.

I write on 3, soon to be 4 gadget/laptop blogs, so I always see lots of news, whether on the sites or writing for em, or while looking for news lol .

I'll also look at the smallest Sony lappy available at the mo, and perhaps write something up on it too .
