Netbook from Sony?

I mentioned it in another thread earlier, but thought this deserved a thread of it's own .

Sony's Senior Vice President for Information Technology Products was recently asked about the possibility of a Sony netbook. His response was to this was to "stay tuned".
While it isn't confirmed it isn't denied either which is what I'll focus on.

Re: Netbook from Sony?

Re: Netbook from Sony?

Hehe, forgot I said I was gonna do this .

Sony's Vaio TT has an 11.1 inch screen.
Kinda netbook material, but not, with the price - Sony Brands » Sony Vaio TT coming soon

Re: Netbook from Sony?

thank you very much ^^ actually, besides price, thats really what Im looking for. Id even go as far to say the 2750 buck model is something Id REALLY want...

my dads friend is an accountant, Ill talk to him and see how I should plan out saving for this. I dont have to buy it even in the next year. Im cool with waiting a solid 2 years of saving up to get this. Ill also look for the cheaper netbooks, but this vaio has some insane specs for a netbook...(but yeah, its sort of not a netbook because of that pricetag..)

Have you checked out the Acer Aspire One? If I got a netbook it would probably be that one.

Re: Netbook from Sony?

Well, Sony aren't classing it as a netbook, because of the specs and price. Screen size wise it is, but spec and prize wise nope, but it is AWESOME .

Hmmm, Acer Aspire One. They are good, better than the Eee PC 701. However, when the Advent 4211 is next to the Aspire One, this is more tempting . It is £80 more than the Aspire One, but, worth it imo . I know netbooks aren;t supposed to be used as laptops and some may argue the specs of this are more than a netbook needs, but it's great, because it's a netbook but I can use it as a regular laptop too .
If I had the money I'd get the Vaio TT though of course . I'm not sure if they're out in the UK though.

Re: Netbook from Sony?

thats the thing with me though, haha, Im looking for netbook size, with laptop specs. basically, I find that laptops are way too big nowadays! its hard to find anything smaller than 14", and if you do, it has pretty shifty specs. I like the netbook size, but not the specs...the price is right though. Ive found some sony laptops, 15.4" with good specs, a good size (if a bit large, at least its not 19" like my mums), and a pretty good price, tell me what you think bex.

Computers: Laptops: Sony VAIO 15.4" Laptop featuring Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2390 (NR460DW) - Bilingual | Best Buy Canada Web Store

it has good battery life to boot. unfortunately I couldnt find any reviews of it online. I might go look at it in-store if I find the time this week

Re: Netbook from Sony?

It's a Sony that looks like a Mac , I'd say get it lol .
I had a Sony Vaio that looked a bit like a Mac, not as much as that one though lol.

Haven't seen that one myself though.
Only thing I'd say is, before getting it, do check it out, only to see what the keys/keyboard is like.

Some Sony's look a bit cheap and are "bendy" on the lid . But apart from that, if it passes that check, then get it lol.
