Real Talk: Nintendo DS Lite vs. Sony PSP

It's well known that the Nintendo DS is outselling the PSP. The DS, with it's great current gen games and HUGE back catalogue, is somewhat of a gentle giant. It's very yasashii, as the Japanese say, meaning roughly nice and/or easy. That doesn't mean it should be taken lightly however.

PSP fans are often quick to discredit Nintendo's current handheld offering with their boasts of the PSP's web browsing, mp3 and mp4 playback and UMD video capabilities. They write the DS off as, "A child's system."

Well, it seems that MANY people disagree. The DS has greatly outsold the PSP. You could argue that whiny brats the world over with Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh fetishes are the reason for the mismatch, but the FACT still remains......

PSP is getting DUSTED!

It's a sad thing when the best thing going for your system is emulation!

Well, the folks at Nintendo have upped the ante on their already largely popular system. The next generation of the DS, the DS Lite, is looking to give you ALOT more with less. They've proceeded in true Nintendo form by slimming the somewhat bulky DS down in size and weight, but that's not what the fuss is about. They've taken a cue from their competitors at Sony Corporation and integrated a web browser! With support from the largely popular third party web browser "Opera", Nintendo is obviously on a mission to obliterate the flailing PSP.

The DS Lite releases on March 2nd here in Japan. You better believe that I will be picking up at least one, if not 2. I love my DS. I like my PSP. They both have pluses and minuses.

What are your thoughts on this heated handheld battle?

I really dont think that the ds is doing better than psp.But,like you said thats in Japan,here in the U.S. the psp is way outselling the ds,which could be due to the fact that there are alot more games released in Japan than in the U.S. and that more people here like that it has more features than the ds with some good games also.

I think that the psp is better because all the homebrews and the movies you can download.
ds can`t hold a candle next to psp

I CAN'T WAIT TO BUY THE DS LITE, already have the psp and I've done everything I could with it. I'm waiting for a new exp. especially with the free wifi connection that lets you play with people around the world. I've stealing my nephew's DS to play Mario Kart.

DS just offer something that pSP could not, TOuch! DS games are a lot funner too (if thats a word).

I own both a ds and a psp and have owned gameboys in the pas and I get mad everytime they release a new version because it makes me feel ripped off.

let me give you an idea why people buy the DS, "IT'S FUN!" it's all come down to the "games", would you buy the PSP if it doesn't play games?
