Pokemon Hack

Hi, i am a very big pokemon fan and having played the pokemon series over and over again i finally decided to start to create a hack.

I started searching for information about the basics of hacking about a week ago and have got my hands on some tools to help me hack the maps of pokemon ruby/sapphire. I have played around with it and slightly got used to it.

I am just wondering if there is anybody who can help me out with this hack or can give me help on how to change the events of what happens in the pokemon game,
FOR EXAMPLE: how the change the event when you have to chose one of the three starter pokemon to three different pokemon or so one of the pokemon you can choose is a pikachu etc.

I want to try and create a hack based on ruby/sapphire, if anybody would like to help me with this hack or could help me out please personal message me or send a reply to this thread.

Any help will be greatly appreaciated!

wow, sounds cool! i would like to help but i dont know anything (by the way) i think u should start on EMERALD version cause that game is newer than ruby and sapp

yeh i would prefer to do emerald but i find this pretty cool map editor, i am still learning the basics of hacking though and i really need to find a way of changing the events....

im just as new as you are.... i dont know about events but you need to find a special program for starters.(unless what you use can do that...) I use elite map and a few other things like pokepic. what do you use?

I have just recently got eltiemap and i am getting used to it, i have tested out advanced map as well. i found a program to change the three starter pokemon. but i have another problem now, i cant change the pokemon starter of your rival.

For Example if i changed the three starter pokemon to:

1. Bulbasaur 2.charmander 3. Squirtle

and then i chose to start with charmander may would have a mudkip!

i have also got some other programs such as rsball and another program (cant remember name) that changed the pokemon of the trainers but i really dont understand it!!!!

Ok i have just started using the program PET, to change the pokemon the trainers use, i heard that it is better if you dump the images from rsball but i thought i would play around with PET first. then after i had a play around with it i got some error and now when i try to open PET it says 'maybe you should dump images of the trainers and pokemon from rsball first', SO! i went on rsball hit 'DUMP' and it added all the images of the pokemon in a new folder. Now i dont no how to add these images so they are loaded in the program PET, can anybody help me!

No worrys! I did it, i had to dump the trainer images as well... silly me!

What do you think would be starters to start with and what would you like to see your rival battler have? i was thinking to make it like pokemon yellow but with ruby/sapphire generation pokemon so you always start with the same pokemon and you can get the three starter pokemon in events but only once.

Just one thing...can you please not abuse these hacks. Hacking games, especially ones that have online, ruin the game for people who want to play a game with no hacks....with the exception of Pokemon like Manaphy, Shaymin, etc..

So your talking about private servers as well. They aren't huting anyone, it's only a small selection of the gaming community who even know about them, and only some who make them (I'm working on a runescape server)

How is just doing some editing 'taking away' from people who want to play with no hacks ? Unless they can't read then they'll know if the rom they're downloading is hacked or not. And people usually buy the game anyway, and have no idea that you can wipe the cartrige and load a hacked game onto it.

What's wrong with a bit of creativity lol ? What if the hacked Pokemon is never released ?

Hmm.... I'm ranting on a bit here aren't I =/ Oh well. Time for sleep before my laptop overheats.
