Hey, throw down your favourite vertical shooter.

I love vertical shooters, they're so under-rated. It's such a unique genre of game, and they take an under-represented amount of talent to play.
Companies like Psikyo and Capcom made shooters that were near impossible. The persistent and unrelenting stream of enemies and bullets lead the player to display a constant stream of aerial finesse.
My favourite shooters have to be (and I have a lot because I love them)
Ikaruga
Giga-Wing
Aero Fighters/Sonic Wings 3
Raiden III
Gunbird 2
(and of course some classics)
Galaga
Gradius III
Lifeforce
R-Type

It's just such a beautiful and lost genre--someone needs to release a new one that is incredible.

radilgy kinda tried to bring back the verticle shooter (good game imo) as well as the dreamcast (good system imo) but trying to kill two birds with one stone didnt work too well imo. wonder if theyll ever make one like it on another system...

Those are the (PC) FPS Games i can remember i have played at the top of my head.

wow old topic, but anyways man, those are all fps games, we're talking about vertical shooters, like 1942, 1943, under defeat, etc.

Meh i am all about bringing back classic Genres so this can add to the list of games i make but all games i will be making are going to be made for PC (We are also learning how to dev games on a Xbox . . .but that does not intrest me really. . )

me and my friends are tampering with turning this rpg we made for pc to a psp homebrew game. if not, we could remake it on snes and then just play it on an emu

at any rate, Ive always wanted to make a really nice vertical shooter like underdefeat but playable on psp by homebrew or emu

my fav vertical shooter(s) was the gta series before gta3..

i actually had more fun playing it than i do playing gta4 today

Vertical shooters are fun. I plan on trying out Star Parodier when that comes out on the US VC this month. Another shooter i cant wait to try is bangai-o spirits.

nah, i agree that vertical shooters are awesome, but i disagree that galaga is the best

Gradius all the way!

U.N Squadron for the SNES was awesome well, reccomended to all 2-D shooter fans
