If you mean that you upgraded to 4.01 official firmware you can not run emulators or any homebrew.

You need to install a custom firmware on the PSP using a pandora battery and magic memory stick.

This might help you for the battery [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

This guide can help for the magic memory stick [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If you don't feel up to making the battery or memorystick they can be bought online from the likes of eBay or amazon.

You can buy it online like I said, but yes you will have to use a pandora battery it is an important part of the process. It tells the PSP to boot up from the memory stick so there is no other way around this. The magic memory stick has the boot files and installation files on it so they have to work together for this.

Evert aspect of your current PSP will still be there, with the addition of being able to run homebrew(emulators), run PSX games, and downloaded PSP games from the memory stick.

I run 8gb's on all mine with no problems. A lot of info that you are reading is out of date.

Yes, all the magic memory stick is, is a special format and file writing. After you are finished with it just reformat the memory stick with the PSP formatting utility and you are ready to go.
