It's hard to explain really. One of my dogs died last September and I've had that dog in my life for about 10 years. I was pretty torn up over and I miss him every once in a while when I think about him. When something with a personality, like a dog, which you had in your life for years goes away, it's going to hurt.

But not everybody is a pet person.

yeah, Im not much of a pet person. I find cats really cute but I havent missed any of mine. though I guess its not the same since the fish all died (and fish suck) and every other pet we gave away to a relative, and unless any of them have died in the last month or two, theyre all still alive, so I still see them, but I havent really owned any pets with personalities till their passing

Oh, then it's understandable. I've had dogs around me since I was born so I can't imagine life without at least a couple running around the house.
