December 10, 2004 - Formula One racing has always been one of the mainstays of 3D racing games -- its popularity with race fans keeps the hardcore driving, and with many game makers also being fans of this technical kind of racing, it's something they want to play as much as the regular gamers. Back in the PlayStation and Saturn days, this specific type of racing was where developers flexed their technical skills off, with amazing special effects, realistic physics, full fields of cars and incredibly minute detail work on the statistics. On the first PSP effort, F1 is taking a breather from setting the pace lap to instead give gamers a more arcade-styled, action-packed racing game that allows you to race while on a bus or backseat without having to get as deep as you do back home. But don't think the developers have taken it easy for this PSP effort -- the technology behind the game is still heavy and hearty, and some of the special features that developer Traveller's Tales has for the game (including customizable soundtracks played right off your Memory Stick -- a first for PSP), this game heats up the PSP's tires.
