I went into the GAME menu like you said and says what the capacity of my card is: 1919MB...the free space: 1867MB (that's AFTER I went through that "Rain" program on that tutorial"...and "MagicGate": UNKNOWN...

I'm assuming THAT'S where the problem is.....

So what do I do now?

Thanx for the patience by the way....I appreciate it...

By the way...

I'm really sure this isn't a slim PSP...but just to be on the safe side, how can I tell? And where do I find information about this motherboard people are talking about?
You got it, the memory stick has to be magic gate supported for this whole thing to work. There is not a program out there that will fix the unsupported memory stick for this purpose.

You need to find a real magicgate supported memory stick(do not purchase online as most are fakes and you can't tell until you get them) or buy a pandora magic memory stick already prepared from either eBay or Amazon.

Regardless of which PSP it is it will not be the new one unless you found it in the last month.

A quick easy way to tell is that there are 2 small holes in the front of the PSP(it's the speaker holes). If they are on the upper half of the PSP front then it is a slim, if it is on the lower half of the front then it is a phat. Another way to tell is that on the bottom edge ther is a sticker with model #'s a PSP1xxx is a phat and a PSP2xxx is a slim.

Okay...it's all falling into place now...

Something is a little off though....the memory stick says:

Sony and the icon on the top

Memory Stick PRO Duo in the middle

2GB MagicGate on the bottom

Now, you say it has to be MAGIC GATE supported, but it SAYS that on the body of the battery. So that's confusing me. How is it that a memory card that says it on the body ISN'T supported? That's strange.

Well, I definitely have a "PHAT" version then. I checked everything you said.

I guess everything starts with the memory card...I just dont know how this thing isn't supported when the name and everything is on it.

Keep the info coming...I almost got my hands on solving this thing....

Thanx again...

It's not really that strange they are counterfeit memory sticks from China bought online for cheap. Very common actually.

Sigh....that's just ridiculous....I swear, if I've been going through all these headaches because of a phony memory card, I'm gonna shoot someone...

But I guess I cant be THAT frustrated seeing as I found the thing in a club with the card, battery, AND game already in it...

Well, I guess if the memory card is the issue, do you know of any web sites I can get a card that's GUARANTEED to work?

I'm in Durham, North Carolina...

Since that is the issue, where do I need to go to buy one that is guaranteed to work?

You should have a Best Buy or Circuit City close buy.I've fund that you can always trust a retail store and they have sales all the time and if it is not right it's easier to take them back. If there is a Fry's Electronics close they always have them for cheap(that's where I get all mine, Lexar brand) or you can get them online at frys.com. You don't need a big one 1 or 2 gb would be fine and be at a good price.

Okay, I can get to a Circuit City and Best Buy....I'll see how much they're talking about....

I've seen a bunch of regular MagicGate Sony memory cards for cheap on Ebay. Are THOSE the real ones? Because people from everywhere are selling them.

99.9% of the ones on eBay are fakes, that is where the majority comes from. They are cheap for a reason, they are counterfeit. NEVER BUY A MEMORY STICK FROM EBAY!!!

Okay....I won't be doing the Ebay thing then....but Best Buy and Circuit City doesn't have anything I can afford right now...I'll look around the net to see if I can find one and post it in here so you can let me know if its fake or not...
