The program should work. Try using the other program DCv4-TM. Vista is difficult to work with on this process. If you can get ahold of a XP machine try that it yields better results.

The only way to downgrade is to use pandora, which is what you are trying to make. Your firmware has nothing to do with it as the pandora setup bypasses the loaded firmware and boots up on the memorystick.

Using the XP comp you can try to make it with the Totalnewbie one that you tried first.

One last thing, How new is this PSP slim and what firmware did it come with??

The newest PSP's are coming out with a new motherboard TA-088v3 which at this time is unhackable and more and more of these are showing up and show the same thing that you are experiencing. If you could find another(older) PSP and try the mem stick and battery out on it to confirm whether it is working or not would be a big help. You do not have to install anything just see if the pandora menu comes up then pull out the battery and nothing will be changed.

It's not new enough then to have that TA-088v3, more than likely a TA-088v1 or v2.
