Icon2 PSP turns on but black screen.

Hello.
This psp phat I have is having a problem.
It turns on but the screen just stays black and it doesn't turn off.
It hasn't had custom firmware installed into it so I don't think it's bricked.
But if it helps any, before this problem occurred, it was dropped and there is a little crack on the back of it by where the memory stick should go. Not by the battery.

Does anyone know what's wrong, or if there is anyway I can fix this?
Even if I have to go inside of it.
I used an Pandora's battery and MMS stick and nothing happened. The screen just stayed black, and no lights flickered.
So, is the PSP just broken and can't be helped?

Sounds like you've got something broken or a cable inside unplugged. It could be the screen display or the backlight. You might be able to fix but it sounds like a trip to the repair shop.

Alright. I hope that's just it. But the sound or nothing won't do anything either. Sometimes, when I have the charger in the psp and turn it on and unplug the charger the green light flickers on and off.
Also, when I would hold up the power switch to try and turn it off -but fail-
the screen would light up. But it hasn't done it recently -last couple of hours-.

Definitely sounds like a trip to the repair center. I personally would open it up and try to fix it, but that is just they way I am for the last 43 years. It would be something that I would have to have my hands on and could not direct someone to do the process.

Oh.
Well does it mean anything that I turn it on with the pandora's battery inside and the green light stays on all day? But nothing else happens?
If I had the right phillips screwdriver I would try to open this thing and see what it looks like on the inside.
I guess I have to find one.

It means that it is trying to go into service mode but the magic memory stick is not there or not made correctly for it to boot up off of.

The orange light for when the psp is reading any memory stick doesn't light up at all. I made the MMS Correctly. I think.

It would need to be charcke out on another PSP to confirm, with the problems that the PSP is having you can't tell. Could be a problem with the mem stick reader in the PSP.

My PSP kinda does the same thing, but it's a 2001 slim and has 5.00 m33-6 CFW. The MS just blinks a little every few seconds. Did I brick it?!?!?

Re: PSP turns on but black screen.

If your PSP boots up, try formatting with the PSP.
