| Re: Complete PSP Slim (2000) Custom Firmware Help Hey, sorry I was all ready to finish this, so I went ahead, but everything seems to be working great! At that menu screen, I selected "Install 4.01 M33" and it just loaded right up. Then I shut it down, reopened the Pandora battery and with a number 2 pencil, marked a decent amount of lead in the line I had severed. After closing and using tape to hold it together, I put it back in and pressed the power switch. The XMB came back up and everything was gravy. I checked under System Information and it said I was running 4.01 M33! So it sounds like everything went according to plan.I reformatted the memory stick like you said in your guide and the battery's been working completely fine. So what can it do now? Just to learn from your knowledge, what things can I and should I do to make this thing badass now? Like some applications that I can flex this new firmware with. Any ideas? Brad |

I would play around for a while and get used to doing things and figuring out how things work and the language before getting in to custom themes and the like as they can cause a brick by an overzealous user. Trust me, I spend more of my time fixing bricks from themes than first time installs. First off you need to press Select and scroll down to UMD ISO Mode and change it to either one of M33 Driver or Sony NP9660. These 2 settings alow you to play game iso's without a disk in the drive, if you have trouble with one then switch it to the other, that is common to have to switch drivers on some games. To change press either the left or right D pad buttons. Since you formatted the memory stick all your Folders have been created, your PSP Game ISO's & CSO's(compressed game iso) go into (psp drive letter):\ISO PSX games can also be played but require a little more tinkering with. Pretty much just start reading up on the whole PSP custom firmware scene and see what interests you. If you have any questions on things just post up here or PM me.

| Re: Complete PSP Slim (2000) Custom Firmware Help Thanx a million times over bro, everything's working fine. I was almost that overzealous user too! Everything went 100% smooth following the directions that are now in this thread, so hopefully this will help many more people that were in my perdicament about where to start and finish.Again though, for the future reader's information, do you have any recommendations for certain applications? Maybe a PDF reader or some type of word processor? Do you recommend any specific emulators for applications and games? Anything you personally find cool with a modded PSP would be useful to any reader, being you have an experienced track record. Other than that, it's been fun man! Hope to hear back from you, but believe I'll be in touch if I have any further questions. Thanks again and again. Brad |

Type in PSP PDF Reader and you will find plenty of info. The same goes for whatever you are looking for. Do you recommend any specific emulators for applications and games? You are running a slim so be sure to look for apps that are for the 3.xx kernel so they will work, the old 1.50 kernel apps will not work on the slim. I use these for nes and snes HERE The post that it takes you to is for the nes then scroll down a couple of posts and there is the snes. I use my PSP for videos, mp3's, iso games, nes , snes, and PSX for playing around and also several tools that I use for working the PSP and troubleshooting and that's it. Most of my time now is spent doing help and getting people up and running on custom firmware.
