Icon5 Problem with PSP (Slim and sexy, Firmware 4.01)

Hello there. I recently purchased a PSP 4.01 (as the title suggests), however, even after reading ALOT of forums, posts, blogs and such regarding how to play ISO games on it, I have failed.

Here is what I have done so far:

I downloaded the 4.01 M33 file and updated.
Result? Still no luck.

I downloaded a UMDumper, same result.

I converted all my games into CSO files, still.. nadda.

I reformatted my memory stick... nope. Nothing. (Which resulted in me losing my ISO and game4xx folder.. Is that a problem? Or can I simply create those folders again in the root memory stick?)

Could someone kindly guide me on just how to solve this puzzle.. do it for the kids. (my lil bros who're overly excited bout the psp, but if they so much as spill chicken vindaloo on it, I'll hang em to a pole and throw tomatoes at em)

What would Jesus do? (if he had knowledge on PSP... no offense to anyone. Okay I'm going a little off track here.. My bad)

SO! Someone, please do help. As you can see, all that forum reading has affected my brains.

Everything that you are trying to do will only work on a custom firmware enabled PSP, which you do not have.

If you just purchased the PSP Slim(from a store) and it had 4.01 firmware installed on it out of the box there is a 99.9% chance that it has the TA-88v3 motherboard in it and it is unhackable at this time.

The only sure way to find out is to use a known working pandora battery and magic memory stick on it and see if it responds.

As far as the folders go you can just recreate them but they will not do you any good until you get custom firmware installed and it looks like it may be a while before the devs come up with a way to do it.

Hey there Wizard dude. Well, that's sad to know. Dammit!
Get a pandora battery eh? No idea how that works, only thing I do know, is that it can't be done with the slim PSP battery. Am I right?
So, there's no other way?

Most likely the battery you have is one of the new ones that can not be turned into a pandora so purchasing one online would be your best option from the likes of ebay or amazon.

The memory stick part can be made using your computer, PSP, and your memory stick.

Hopefully you are kidding !

I dropped my old PSP on the floor and it was not working anymore (unrepairable). Therefore I bought today a new one (which has FW 4.01 installed) and I am trying now for a while to get a CFW on it (as I did with the previous one as well), but I am not succeeding at all.

I use a battery and a mms with which I've put CFW on my previous one, so the stick and datel battery should be fine.
Nevertheless the PSP doesn't start in service mode, the screen remains black, the power led blinks green and the card reading led remains off .....

I really wished I was kidding but sadly no. That is the situation at this time. That is why your new PSP is not responding to a known working pandora battery and magic memory stick.

Re: Problem with PSP (Slim and sexy, Firmware 4.01)

CFW was the reason I bougth a 2004 .... could also have bought a 3000 for same amount (and I am mostly using the psp for watching video on the road so 3000 might have been really better).

Guess it ain't my lucky day today

Don't know if the videos are affected but the 3000 is having problems with interlace lines on the screen and causing poor quality.
