| GamingCrazy Addict ![]() | Network FAQ If you want to post this FAQ in another forum, that's ok as long as you give me the credits! I made this to help out other peeps, so if that's the purpose, feel free to use it as you want.. Updated version.. I may add an index and stuff too if i get bored some day ![]() How to find your router's IP!
A: SSID broadcasting is turned off. You need to know the SSID, or if you administrate the router, you can enable SSID broadcasting. Q: What is SSID?? A: The SSID is the name of the network, or the AP. Q: I can see the SSID, and the network isn't encrypted, but still i can't connect! A: Maybe the network is MAC filtrated. If so, only allowed computers can connect to the network. If the router i yours, you can add the psp's MAC address to the list. Q: Where can i find the PSP's MAC address? A: Just go to settings->system settings->system information. Q: What is an access point (AP)? A: An AP is a wireless router connected to the internet. Q: Is there any way i can see who's connected to my network? A: Yep. Just open your browser, and enter the routers IP-address (usually 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.254, 192.168.1.0 or something similar...(look in the manual if u don't know)). Then you just find a button called "Site survey" or something like that. You will now get a list over connected clients showing the IP-address, the MAC-address and maybe how long they're been connected. Q: How do i find my comps ip? A: (for Windows) Go to start, click run, type cmd and enter. (or u can type win+r to bring up the run dialog) Then type ipconfig and check the IP address field.. Q: Attempt to get IP address timed out. Wtf?? A: Try to manually set IP address:
If you know why this happens, please tell me.. Question by Andrewx1st: Q: I get an error saying it was a DHCP communication error. Why? A: Maybe you have set up the manual IP settings wrong.. Try setting it to automatic and see if it works then. Question by Drei Harte: Q: Is it possible to boost the WiFi signal on the psp? A: Yah, it seems to be possible, but it will involve modifying the actual WiFi card inside the psp (will void the warranty). Try googling the topic, and i think there's some guides. Though, i wouldn't do something like that to my PSP. It doesn't look that good when you solder a huge antenna to the console ^^ Q: Is there any web browser for FW 1.50? A: U have the Fired Up browser which you can dl as an iso i think (correct me if i'm wrong). I've heard that it is the best out now, but I'm not sure cuz I haven't tried myself.. EDIT: I don't think this is relevant anymore.. If you want the browser, flash one of the newer custom FW's or emulate through devhook ![]() Question by Soulja: Q: Is it possible to play online games on 1.50? A: There's no problems with playing online games on 1.50 psp's.. Q: What is LocationFree Player (2.5+)? A: To use LocationFree, u must buy an external base station (2-300$ i think). It's for streaming media (TV, movies, music etc.) to the PSP via the internet. Q: What's the RSS Feed for (2.6+)? A:It's for streaming podcasts to the PSP using the internet. EDIT: I think i've missed out something here! It seems like you can stream video files too in the newer FW's..? Correct me if I'm wrong! Q: How to use the flash function on 2.70? A: First, you have to activate the flash player under the Settings/System Settings and then the Activate Flash Player option. To do this activation, u have to go online. After you're done with this, you can start watcing flash animations within the browser, either from the internet or your memstick. Remember the Flash version is 6.0, and most animations requires 7.0 or 8.0.. EDIT: In the custom FW's with recovery menu and stuff, you can activate the flash player offline through the recovery menu. Enter the recovery menu, enter Registry Hacks, press "Activate Flash Player". How to run flash from memstick: *Put the flash file where u want it on the memstick *Open the browser and type File:/[the folder u have it in]/[the name of your flash file] Example: File:/Flash/Animation.swf in this case, the file is called flash.swf and is located in the folder "Flash".. Q: Getting "internal error" when trying to use network update! A: Try restoring the default settings and it should work.. EDIT: Who wants the network update anyway? On the custom FW's, I think you can even brick your beloved PSP using it! (Not sure, though). Q: Is it possible to use IM (instant messaging) services on the PSP? A: Well, you can log on MSN using eMessenger ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) (runs in the browser, no homebrew needed in 2.0+). Please post it here if u know about other services/clients.. Tipped by Jopoo: U can download Afkim messenger client [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] It's a messenger client that supports Msn, Gmail, Yahoo++ (Ty again, Jopoo )Q: Do i need the umd to play online? A: No, u only need the umd for game sharing. Written by Pillow: To use gamesharing, here are the steps: 1. Player with UMD start game and go to gamesharing (probly in multiplayer section) 2. Player without UMD in psp menu under game go to gamesharing. 3. Player with UMD follow on-screen instructions to set up game. 4. Player without UMD should eventually get message to join, and you should join. 5. Enjoy, after a nice long loading wait ![]() Question by Michael_Owen10: Q: Do i need a wireless router to go online with my PSP? A: Yes, the only way I know to go online with the psp is to connect it to a wireless AP supporting WiFi B (or 802.11b if you want..) From Boneheadjoe's FAQ: Q: Portals??? A: They are home pages for you 2.0+ PSPs with games/apps, I think the best one is the X5 portal at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Q: Internet browser for 1.5? Where? How? AHH! A: The best 1.5 browser out now is the Fired up browser. It is an ISO, so you need Umdemu to use it. Sinx's guide for usbhost redirecting in IRshell This below is written by Sinx!
