Well there are 2 ways to fix this. You can either insert a UMD game, or you can go to the PSP interface (HOLD R + PWR for 5 seconds), then click on "Configuration" and click "UMD Mode" until you see "-NO UMD-". Now you can play your ISO, CSO.. etc with no error or UMD game in this case.

i have the first version of the psp that came out and i'm getting the same (80020321) error when i try to play downloaded games, any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Is it running custom firmware?? If so press the Select button and scroll down to the UMD ISO Mode and change to M33 drivers or Sony NP9660.
