Re: How to RIP UMD PSP games?

Rip you mean put into .iso/.cso? If you have PSP_GAME and Bin file just drag and export as .iso file

If you want .cso file drag your neww .iso file back into 4.0 GEN and export as .cso file

UMDGEN

Use this

Re: How to RIP UMD PSP games?

i think dikky13 was asking "how to do you back-up the umd to an iso or a cso?"

it's easy...here's how to do it.

1. put the umd that you wish to make a back-up of, in the drive.
2. press "Select" and the "M33 VSH Menu" will pop up.
3. scroll down to "USB Device" and press "Left" on the the d pad the once. the setting should change from "Memory Stick" to "UMD Disc". if you press left again, you will now see the "Flash" folders. if you do not know what these are, do not select them. if you alter or delete any of the files or folders in the flash folders, you could brick your psp (especially in flash0). basically, do not select them.
4. exit the "M33 VSH Menu"
5. connect your psp to the ps via the usb cable, then scroll over to the "USB Connection" and select it.
6. on your pc, a screen should pop up. this is the umd drive. if one didn't, enter the "My Computer" and open up the "Removable Drive".
7. in this window, there will be an iso image of the game that's in the umd drive. just copy and paste the iso to your desktop or any folder.
8. when the copying has finished, rename the iso.

and that's it. you have just backed-up the umd.

if the iso image is too big or you wish to decrease the size of the iso, you could compress it down into the cso format. you can either use umdgen, iso compressor or Y.A.C.C. all of which are found in the "Utilities" sub section of the "Download" section of the forum (press the "Download" button at the top left of the page).

I tried to do this but my psp doesn't do anything when I press select. I have psp firmware 3.52 M33. I also can upgrade or downgrade my psp firmware.

i can't remember if v3.52m33 had a vsh menu or not. but what i do remember, is on one custom firmware, you had to press "Home" to access the vsh menu. try pressing the "Home" button to see what happens.

but you can still access the the umd drive. you just need to select it in the "Recovery menu". go into the "Recovery menu" then scroll down and select "Configuration". then scroll down to "XMB usb device " and press enter untill it reads "Currently: UMD Deic". now exit back to the xmb. the next time you connect your psp you your pc/laptop, you will see the disc image in the folder.

Re: How to RIP UMD PSP games?

the "ISO" folder needs to be in the root directory of your mem card alongside the "PSP" and "MP_ROOT" etc. folders. if there isn't one, just simply make one, then put your iso/cso files in there.

what firmware is your psp on?
if it's on official firmware, then you can not play iso/cso's from the mem card. you will need to install a custom firmware to do that.

if you are on custom firmware, then make a folder in the root directory of the mem card called "ISO". it should go next to the "PSP", "MP_ROOT" etc. folders. then place the iso/cso's in to it.
