the bigwig of Valve, Gabe Newell seems not to like it too much.
According to Newell, "The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It's really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted. I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a "do over". Just say, "This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we're going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it". The happy story is the Wii. I'm betting that by Christmas of next year, Nintendo Wii has a larger installed base than the 360. Other people think I'm crazy. I really like everything that Nintendo is doing."

Yeah, Nintendo is smart alright, they make their console with the lest budget and make the most profit out of it than Sony and Microsoft.

how else are they gonna make moneys? they're like apple vs. microsoft. microsoft thinks they're the shnit, so they make crappy stuff and sell it for lots of money and STILL make no profit, while apple is making bank! it only costs around 250 bucks to make the new iphone, but they sell it for 600!!! and people wonder why apple's stock split multiple times...

Dude, if XP was such crap, or the upcoming Vista, why is Windows over 80% of the worlds used operating system?

How Microsoft makes money is a diferent story.

The 360 costs over $400 to make.

But per 360 they also add in an HDD.

So how they make cash?

Simple, Xbox Live. Another way is games. Another way is movies ( Halo ) and other games becoming movies.

Also, Microsoft actually CARES about the consumer. The Zune has a FREE software converter and stuff. While Quicktime 7 costs cash. And don't bring illegal stuff to the table. Apple made the video converting software, an absolute NECESSITY for an Ipod Video, $40. When it actually was VERY easy to make a converter. Shoot, most PSP converters have dual converting so the Video can play on BOTH psp's and ipods!

Microsoft releases free updates like the service pack 2 and its firewalls and set up wizards for stuff for FREE. while MAC costs cash for that.

fair enough. but i was using mac vs. microsoft as a metaphor of ps3 vs wii. and you helped prove my point-- nintendo is making a system that costs them next to nothing to make, and they actually make a profit because of the high demand, like mac's ipod, iphone, etc. newell is basing his opinion on the economic standpoint of sony's decisions. the ps3 costs a crapload of money to make, and to be able to make a profit, the price would be so high that no one would buy it. To add to it, the games BLOW!!! except r:fom. THAT'S why its a failure.

urm i think ur chattting bare sh*T , why does everyone think the ps3 cost mega bucks? if u get your head out your ass u will see that the ps3 cost more to make then they are selling it for and also your not just getting a games console but a blu ray player which at the moment in the uk is going for around £2000 pounds alone... thats $4000 dollers... so you getting a games console which insain graphics and a blu ray drive for wat $450......sooo whats the problem ?

the wii is sh*t. yes its cheap and its easyer to make profit that way but the wii isnt targeted to vs ps3 and 360 . wii is like a big family or a big group of peeps wanting to play something together.

you cant compare wii to ps3 cos there on differant levels...

but u can compare ps3 and x box 360 and all i have to say about that is

360 graphics aint gonna improve much where as ps3 graphics at the moment are only using about 30% ps3 powerr...... now come on ps3 graphics at 30% ps3 power are still better den most 360 games....


so in other words the PS3 does not suck..... the 360 sucks and well the wii is ok i guess....
