| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | Re: [Tutorial] Installing Yellow Dog Linux on PS3 so what are the advantages of installing linux on a PS3 and what can you do with it? my PS3 is on firmware v2.1 and that has a divx installed on it. so if it's just for playing avi's etc, then there is no point going through all of this just to play what i can already play. nice guide by the way. |

| Re: [Tutorial] Installing Yellow Dog Linux on PS3 Sorry to revive an old thread... The reason for requiring a 60 gig model is...??? a. Hard drive space b. Card reader slots I do have a PSP, and I've been considering the hard drive upgrade, but my PS3 is the 20gig version. Thanks |

| GamingCrazy Rookie ![]() | Re: [Tutorial] Installing Yellow Dog Linux on PS3 To answer your questions: There's some ported games from Windows to Linux. Such as HALO. You can download HALO for Linux and play it on your PS3. Also, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] gives .exe support for Linux. This means you can play .exe games on your PS3! Hurray! Also, if you have any projects to do such as a 'rainbow table' or so, you can use the PS3's power to make a fast rainbow table graphic generator. The PS3 is expensive for a gaming console, but cheap or a super computer.
