| Setup Media Sharing w/ Nero MediaHome (Avi streaming supported) With the advent of Firmware Update 1.8, we are now given the opportunity to stream media from UPnP and DLNA enabled devices/servers. This is a very powerful tool and absolutely indispensable for any media center device in the household. Prior to firmware update 1.8, users had to copy files one-by-one from storage devices to the Playstation 3, the worst part being that the video formats compatible were few and uncommon. Mp4 and MPEG-2 converters were the best tools available at the time. Now, with firmware update 1.8, we can now stream photos, music and video from our UPnP and DLNA enabled devices! One in particular Nero Ultra Edition 7 enables the users to share folders on the network via a UPnP service named Nero MediaHome. The power of NMH is that it can transcode video files on-the-fly, as well as music/audio files. What this provides the user is the ability to stream their Avi and other format video files LIVE on their Playstation 3. What NMH does is encodes the source file (i.e. .avi) into a Playstation 3 comaptible format (auto-detected) on-the-fly. Here's a video to demonstrate me using Nero MediaHome to stream an AVI file to my Playstation 3. [gt]67876[/gt] Steps to get Nero MediaHome Running -------------------------------------------------------- 1. Download Nero 7 (Premium Reloaded) 2. Install Nero Ultra Edition 7 using Typical settings, if you choose not to include all the applications, make sure you at least have all the media-related applications (transcoders, streamers, MediaHome, Scout). 3. Nero MediaHome and Nero Scout are MUST INSTALLS. 4. Once the installation is complete run Nero Scout. 5. In Nero scout, select the folders you wish to share on Nero MediaHome, once selected, make sure to hit Index Now from the Indexing menu. 6. Once the indexing is complete it should say index idle, then run Nero MediaHome. 7. Check to see if the shared directories are the ones you want to share with your ps3, and also make sure those folders were indexd by nero scout. 8. Options can be changed to your liking. 9. Network: Check the network interface which you computer and Playstation 3 belong to. 10. Devices: Make sure your Playstation 3(UPnP/1.0) is turned on, and that it has Allow Access shaded off. (It means it's allowed) 11. Transcoding: No changes needed. 12. Click on Start Server 13. Browse your media from your Playstation 3 and Enjoy! ![]() To download nero 7 go to their website [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Then download this keygen to acquire the serial [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] In Keygen pick Ahead Nero 7 Premium Edition

| GamingCrazy Rookie ![]() | Re: Setup Media Sharing w/ Nero MediaHome (Avi streaming supported) i would like to thank you for this,it's awesome. and some tips i found while working with it: for some reason AVI dosen't stream well at certain resolutions.why? i honestly dont know.but i do know one that works 640X360(i think thats it,il cheak in a second and edit) for some reason if the video is like 720 X480 or something like that it unsyncs with the audio, and the audio gets ahead of the video...and it's not pretty... but a vid res of 1024x like 560 or something like that, streamed just fine... i really dont understand it.anyways onto mp4.mp4 work like a charm.almost all my MP4 videos play great no audio lag or anything. but there are some, and i don't really know why, that wont play at all.i started it,screen goes black, then nothing, looked on my pc and it was doing something weird. the clint was pauseing then resumeing then repeating.and i had to stop the server so i could go back on my PS3. anyways thanks for the guide and program,il post more info as i play around with it Last edited by ccoolc; 05-29-2007 at 08:28 PM.. |

| Re: Setup Media Sharing w/ Nero MediaHome (Avi streaming supported) im not sure what u mean but ill try to help you. Once u use scout for the files u want to share go to Nero MediaHom. In shared Directories u can either share all content that u scouted with nero or pick individual folder only. In options you dont have to so anything. In Network you'll see ur computers network (mines famil fast ethernet) ip adress ( ex. 135.532.6.352 ) and type ( ethernet ) Check the box under enabled. In Devices thats where u allow ur ps3 to connect to ur network. named UPnP/1.0. Just check the box automatically allow new devices to access nero mediahome under access control. In transcoding it means what the files on your computer converts to, and then streams on ur ps3. I have auto detect (Recommended) which works fine for me but you can play around with that. In TV you dont have to do anything there. And status shows you the progress of the media ur streaming. Also Start Server is at the bottom Nero Media Home. Ill post up pictures for better understanding later.

| GamingCrazy Rookie ![]() | Re: Setup Media Sharing w/ Nero MediaHome (Avi streaming supported) ok guys, have videos that don't stream? no problem,i got a quick guide for AVI and MP4 videos.p.s.i have some videos in mov format, all work so far. AVI: 704 X 396:laggy,audio lags.im going to convert to format that works and try again. 640 X 360:works fine 480 X 360:works fine 1024 X 576:works fine 320 X 240:work fine, but low res and blurry, not advised. 320 X 180:works,but not good quality video. MP4: all work but im haveing trouble with some. i think i just found the main problem.video codec for instance, video same res(320 X 240)but codec on one is 128.2mbs,and the other? 560mbs.... all 560 work, all 128.2 don't... for AVI the codec is the same 2.7 mbs,but resolution is differnt(640 X 360)works vs.(704 X 369)dosent work i also reccomend psp video 9 for all video converting needs.it rocks. so theres a sweet spot for streaming videos..hope this helps guys...peace Last edited by ccoolc; 05-30-2007 at 10:46 PM.. |
