Tenchu Time of the Assassins

Story: Ok this being the first time I have ever played a tenchu game the story line would seem very difficult to understand at first but after completing a few characters missions on story mode you basically get the gist that the game is based on after Tenchu Wrath of heaven and that everyone’s an assassin except all the bad things that happen to each main character revolves around this really bad guy called Onikage who basically plans to do evil things to everyone so the assassins basically do what they have to and inevitably end up with.

Graphics: The graphics are pretty decent colours are good blood splatter when killed however there are many flaws to it. One is that you cannot see things from a distance kind of like Dynasty warriors (really disappointing game when ported onto psp) also that when you kill someone even if you just punch them when the fall on the ground they always splatter blood in fact even if you try to kill them in a way so that blood shouldn't come out blood splatters anyway, however due to the lees visibility of the further surroundings really lets you feel as if your an assassin and that you’re going into the unexpected. Another real issues is that if you stealth kill an enemy but maybe in a different position to someone it can sometimes look as if the assassin is attacking nothing and yet the person you attack still dies. (Still with the same blood splatter) Over all the graphics are pretty decent you can see the character faces pretty decently however they could do with allot of improvements and also the fact that some of the environments look very much the same.

Sound: The sound is pretty decent you can hear the different foot steps on different surfaces such as grass sand stone and so on.. However on certain cut scenes the voice can be blatantly dubbed as the moth movements don't match the speed of the voice. Otherwise the sound is pretty decent various weapons slices and so on as general see (sound effects) can be well defined.

Sorry but just look at how stupid he looks with his one eye.

Controls: The controls can be quite tedious at first, the movement is pretty decent but the sensitivity could be better like the sensitivity in Socom FTB however the controls are pretty simple when it comes to combat you have the lock on feature and whets better is the stealth kill as that only requires you to sneak up to an enemy and press square. But the main problem with the controls which can be real let down is the camera as it requires a hell of allot of adjusting and also that when clinging to a wall it can be very difficult to make the camera show you what just on the other side of the corner. The controls don't make it too hard to take in and out items and makes it very easy to chose items whilst on the move. Over all controls are pretty decent and do add to the effect of being an assassin on the move.

Be warned this cannot usually happen it takes a lot of camera adjusting to get a view like this otherwise your better off being spotted or poisoning the enemy.

Game play: The game play of the game can be very fun and sometimes very tiring, it does not involve much patience or tactics but just on getting to the location on the right moment and finishing the job, however what really lets you down is that the constant camera adjusting and the fact everything looks the same can really get you lost but the map helps out with that. However what can really get the adrenalin going is if you’re up on a building and jump of to pounce and stealth kills the enemy. How ever the combat can be fun as you try to master all the best moves and try to master your favourite character where once you've done that you can take on anyone. The items can be very fun as you can throw poison rice watch them eat it then watch them die slowly (that'll teach em to eat off the floor) and blow them to peaces with rocket launchers or kill them with a single shot of you projectiles or even better one of you special items your assassin can use. Now onto the best bit of the game the mission builder it allows you to create your open mission with any of the characters or enemies you've unlocked but the best thing of all is that you can create any environment you want and place any enemy you want therefore letting you create your perfect mission. (It’s kind of like building in one of that tycoon game. Over all the game play is great fun but the camera adjusting and seemingly samy environments can sometimes make it dull and a bit sickening.

These are the kills I'm talking about.

Look building your own environment.

Difficulty: The game at first can be difficult even if you are playing it on easy but after a while the game can seem pretty samy and you get exactly what you expect however on harder difficulty it can be tedious to get to location without being spotted or to kill someone stealthily.

He makes it look so easy.

Multi player: The multi player can be very fun as you can do co-op missions and versus missions as well as the missions you've created someone else can play them too, there isn't any lag and it can be very fun to create a mission where you fight your way to a cool looking stage in the middle where you face your opponent off in the centre. Overall the multiplayer can be very veyr fun.

Why is one of her feet not actually on the wall????

Replay ability: the game has its ups and down ups for game play and killing scenes but downs for the camera adjusting and samey looking environments. However the game does tend to get boring since unlocking everything takes about a day or two however it does have some good replay value as the multiplayer bits can be funs and to see how harder challenges you can create on mission builder.

The same blood splatter with every kill unless you throw them into a pit of course then you just see nothing.

Overall: Overall the game can be fun, tedious and even dull but it never loses its charm of stealth kills and trademark blood splatter so all in all it's fun to play if you’re into games that involve sneaking about blood jumping and so on. However I still think this game's story does not fulfil itself as it leaves you with a cliff hanger at the end so I presume this game was just made as an in-between story before the next game, but overall fun game and cool combat.

Final score: For a game like this I would have to give it a 6 out of 10, due to it being a fun good game but disappointed with graphics and samey bits of game play. So for anyone buying this game I would only recommend it if you get it for a cheap price like I got it for only £19.99 and if you really have time to waste or better yet if you’re a tenchu fan this could fill up some blank spaces in the story.

Look at him he thinks he's so cool well to spy on other people Rikimaru just makes you a pervert.

And if anyone asks I did write this review because I told it on one of my other threads I would write a review on this game and sorry if my grammars bad I’ll fix it later.(or never because it's my trademark to have bad grammar)

Nice review, pretty much how I felt about the game - it was ok, but hardly life changing.

I always want to get this game, but the draw distance put me off.
I mean, how can you stealth kill when you can't even spot an enemy.
