Smackdown vs Raw 2008 Review

Ok, to start off, this game was pretty disappointing compared to the previous versions. Most of the new sh*t that was added to the game didnt make it better, just more complicated. I mean, to the consoles, the new features rocked, but in the psp, man, it just plained sucked.

Graphics: The graphics of the game are pretty much the same as its predecessor. It sometimes lags when you do some stunts that needs zooming. They also removed some stuff from the previous game, like when the wrestlers pose before you start the match and there isnt even a movie in the beginning.The game has very few cut scenes, like it mostly replays a cutscene when the main wrestler you chose goes through the backstage and shakes other wrestlers hands and just greets them, they replay this scene almost everytime before you start a match. Only seldomly there are cutscenes that are different. Oh yeah, the audience still sucks ass.

Gameplay: Ok dawgs, this is the one factor that made this game disappointing for me. They have all this new bullcrap that really makes the game complicated. Like you cant regenerate your stamina manually, the running is changed with L instead of triangle, you have to hold the direction you want to run instead of just holding the button, you still move with the directional buttons, instead of having the already complicated Clean and Dirty style from the predecessor, theres this new stuff like 8 different styles that is very complicated when you first try it out, man, the cons of the gameplay are endless. The only good thing is that you get use to it after some time, which i had to learn the hard way. Seriously, they should change movement to the analog, and keep things simple for the psp.
Gameplay: 4/10

Audio: Ok, this is the one good factor for this game. They always put good songs in Smackdown games. The voice overs are Ok, but the wrestler you choose in career mode doesnt speak much. The songs are great and i am even trying to find some in Limewire.
Sound: 8/10

Closing Comments: This game is Ok for a short while, but if you really want a good smackdown game, i suggest Smackdown vs Raw 2007, its better than this game. And what really makes this game diappointing is that it didnt even include Big Show in the wrestlers, which is just bullcrap on da real!!!!

Nice review although i think 6/10 is a bit generous. I unlike you could not get used to the controls and it was way to sluggish with the movement because you were using the d-pad instead of the analog. I've also got the ps2 version and again was disappointed this time with not being able to change targets manually.

I actually favor this version of the game to 2007 and 2006. The new controls, and match styles are very good in my opinion. I would give it atleast a 8/10 .

wrestling games r getting 2 complicated now, like all the original ps2 1s were easy to use now theve got all this new stuff like stamina which sucks cus u cant just keep beatin em up, u have to stop start stop start

I played the 360 version and they DO repeat the cutscenes in the 24/7 mode. I was having a fued with Undertaker and then suddenly in the cutscene, Undertaker come and shake hands with me! WTF?!?
THQ is getting lazy with each series.
