Re: Impressions on PSP Piracy

from my experience, people playing isos make up a very small minority... i only know one other person that uses isos. funny thing is i own way more games than anybody i know.
i seriously doubt thats the reason why there are very few good games. i think it has more to do with how well the ds is doing. what ever system does the best is always the system that will get all of the developers attention. thats the reason why ps2 and ds have so many games. probably helps that it cost way less to develop ds games as well.

the gamecube on the other hand was the least pirated console and did really poorly compared to the ps2

its not that i'm supporting piracy but people tend to over state the significance of it. of course the companies are losing out on money but nintendo is probably losing just as much to piracy as sony is so it should cancel each other out in that respect.

Re: Impressions on PSP Piracy

Nag ISO piracy isnt a minority for the psp, its growing slowly. The issue with it is that its so freaking easy to pirate on the psp, just saying everyone is stupid and buy games isnt the way to go. Its the same as saying if i steal a game from toysrus, and 3 others steal it, then theirs 10 people who will buy it so its fine.. Think about it this way if you made a game and you wanted to sell you 500+ hour game you make like GTA and then 20 percent fo your buyers pirated your game, you would have lost a huge chunk of not only your profit but fromt he money that would go into your sequal of your release. IF you feel you eed isos as testers since most psp games are somewhat crappy then go for it, but if they are even the slightest bit fun , freakin delete that game and go and buy it. The psp is suffering right now due to the devolopers not knowing what amkes a good game, if we support what we like then they will figure it out.

Re: Impressions on PSP Piracy

Like you said...everything in moderation...I admit to having iso's but most of the iso's I have are games that I want to test out, japanese games, or just your wierd one that you know nothing about. But I support developers by buying the ones I know I like....Monster Hunter Freedom, Most of the RPG's just bought generation of Chaos....usually I rip them into iso's cause I have a 1.5 so that is how I got into loaders but with the new Devhook v.40 & v.41 I can play old games and new UMD's my Freedom works perfectly including online and thats with the UMD and iso..

So do what you can to support developers but try not to go crazy on iso's alone...

Re: Impressions on PSP Piracy

i wouldn't say psp piracy is growing.... if anything its decreasing since any firmware higher than 2.0 right now has no chance at using isos. the opposite is true with the ds since nintendo is making no effort to block out piracy and their system and games are doing great.
personally, i rarely use isos but i'd be a hypocrite if i condone people from using it because this is no different than downloading music. i use to buy a cd at least once a month but now, in the last year i've bought like 2 cds. how has downloading music become socially acceptable but games aren't? better yet, how many people have illegal versions of windows or photoshop or any other high priced software. these companies stand to lose much more money

Re: Impressions on PSP Piracy

I don't think I've ever heard so much ing about something free. Xbox still seems to be going strong, even though it was hit with the strongest wave of piracy I have ever seen.

Just because a few thousand people don't buy games because the visit this site, doesn't mean anything to sony. and a few thousand is a bit generous. Just because I run ISO's doesnt affect sony at all. They could care less if i went out and purchased it. I put like a few bucks in their pocket.

If you hate piracy so much why not join a police force?

PSPiracy

By using isos you may as well be asking game developers to stop developing for the psp, three new consoles are coming out (and have come out) why should they develop for the psp if one guy buys the game and then distributes it on the net? answer the poll honestly pspcrazy does not want to be known as a pirate site but yet they have a section where you can download isos. Don't use the excuse that they are a backup so your discs don't get damaged because psp discs are the safest i know of, covered in their own little case. Stop moaning that you can't get Siphon Filter to work on your 1.5 psp, it's the game that defines the psp, like halo is to the xbox. If you disagree please dont behave like a 5 year old on me, give a reason. give your idea on piracy... i wanna see what you think.

Re: PSPiracy

I completely agree with you. People shouldn't even use ISO's and just buy the original game it came from. I myself don't use ISO's and they think they're entirely illegal. I go to the store just to buy the game. PSPCrazy.com is moving away from ISO's and downloads. Right now pspcrazy hasn't done it because we're waiting for V3.

But as of now, we have to wait.

Re: PSPiracy

I used to pirate games. But that was last year, when I heard about the breakthrough of Lumines on 1.50, without buying it. Then I stopped after few months, and upgraded my PSP to 2.71, which I have now . Now I am no longer with ISO's, because I would rather buy the game and have the manual and cases of them. Piracy is illegal anyway, and is only for those who would rather download then buy from their favorite company .
