SCEA: PSP homebrew is unauthorized software which could damage your PSP

SCEA: PSP homebrew is unauthorized software which could damage your PSP

One PSP owner seeked to gain a response from Sony regarding the masses of PSP homebrew software available. The e-mail specifically asked why he could not homebrew on his PSP and asked if sony are specifically targetting homebrew users. SCEA replied by stating they do not recommend downloading any 'unauthorized software' on the PSP as it could damage the system and void the Official Sony warranty on the console.

quote:

Hello Tamish,

Thank you for writing us.

Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc. (SCEA) does not recommend downloading any unauthorized software (i.e. games, movies, etc.) for your PSP(TM) portable entertainment system from the Internet; these software downloads have not been officially tested nor approved by SCEA and may
cause damage to your PSP system.

Any damage caused to your PSP system due to your use of unauthorized software downloads will void your Limited Sony Warranty for the PSP system. The only approved network updates can be found at PlayStation.com.

Please visit the link below to download and install available system updates for the PSP(TM) portable entertainment system.

What an azzhole. Seriously, they're only saying that so that they won't feel like they are dominated by these PSP code-crackers.

The whole "damage your PSP" thing is total ****. Sony tries but fails to give a crap about their customers. If they really cared about their customers and the so-called "demographics of 13-17 year olds" that they have been following, they would support homebrew, and the more nifty applications the homebrew designers have created. Far better than Sony's GPS system which only works in Japan, and possibly the internet feature in the PSP.

And, how SCEA says they have not approved of it or tested, why don't they try it now? They can't expect their lowered-price campaign to work forever. They need games.

Ugh. This is going off-topic, sorry.

Oh please....I mean sure some files might harm anything you put them on. But Sony is losing the war on homebrew. I mean really, this is a feeble attempt at trying to stop people from using homebrew or iso/cso's.

Well it isn't going to work. But you gotta give them credit for ah hell who am I kidding they are retarded.
