1. how old is your friends psp? if the psp is relatively new (slim model) and came with v4.01 already installed (not updated to v4.01 by your friend), then there is a high chance that the motherboard is the new type. and at the moment, you can not install a custom firmware on psp's that have the new motherboards. 2. regardless if the psp is a fat or a slim, the only way you can install a custom firmware on to the psp, is by using a pandora's battery. there is no other way to install a custom firmware on a psp, that is on firmware higher than v3.52. you can either make a pandora's battery (have a look in the tutorial section for some guides), or you could buy one from the likes of ebay etc. | |

| Re: [Guide] How to manually install custom firmware v5.00m33-3 thank you for a speedy response. He has a Phat psp like mine and its about 2 years old. He has upgraded his system from the games he has purchased, i guess from the system update. so there is no way to downgrade to 3.52 from 4.05 firmware? Just want to make sure? dont reallly want to spend anymore money or dont want to do any work on the battery. thanks again |

If your PSP phat is running 5.00m33 you can run this app HERE to convert the battery to a pandora then when you are finished change it back to regular. This is the softmod method that does not require opening the battery, the app on the PSP converts it. No cost involved. Then you can use this app HERE to make the magic memory stick. Select the 4.01 complete download. This will make a memory stick that will install 4.01m33-2 then the upgrade to 5.00m33-3 is a simple task. After you are finished you can just format the memory stick and it will be ready for normal use. Again no cost.

| Re: [Guide] How to manually install custom firmware v5.00m33-3 Just wanted to say - I've had mine and my son's PSP both at 3.40 OE-X for a while now but noticed that the newer games would not load - Last night I upgraded first mine then my son's successfully through 3.52 m33 then up to m4, then up to this release, adding the 3.71 patch to each. Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant !!! All new games etc work now... You are a god !! Nuff said. Finally - Is there anywhere I can see what the new fancy things are that are in this release? I notice a new drop down for Playstation Network - anyone got a link to what these new things are and what they do? |
