if the psp comes with v4.05 out of the box, then it's very unlikely that you can hack it. if it was updated to v4.05, it all depends how old the psp is. because if it was made before the v3.90 firmware, then you will be able to hack it.

Re: [Guide] How to manually install custom firmware v5.00m33-4

I bought a PSP with System Software Version 3.80 M33-5, it can play downloaded Games ISO and CSO files. I recently browsed this pandoragadgets.co.uk/products/Magic-Memory-Stick-V7.html and found something there

It says The files we supply on the card will install 4.01 m33 firmware on PSP so what will this 4.01 m33 do ?

Also for 3000 will it be easy to hack through Pandora Batter if released ?

All that is, is the MMS DCv7 that installs 4.01 when run with the pandora battery. It is not necessary for you to be able to install 4.01m33-2. Since you are already on custom firmware you can upgrade your PSP to 4.01m33-2 or 5.00m33-4.

4.01m33-2 is just a higher firmware version there are a few new things in it but if you are happy with 3.80m33 and you have not run across any games that require an update there is no need to change.

The question of hacking the PSP3000 is still up in the air, they are working on it. Most likely it will be a pandora hack but no one knows for sure yet.

to install v3.52m33, your psp must be on either v1.50 or a custom firmware before you can run the v3.52m33 update.

what firmware is your psp on???

I download a .mp4 video but I cannot play it in my PSP, it says Unsupported Video File something, So If I upgrade to 4.01m33 or 5.00m33-4 will it support mp4 files and what new features we get in these firmware versions ?

Re: [Guide] How to manually install custom firmware v5.00m33-4

there is not much of a difference between v4.01m33 and v5.00m33...other than you can connect to the psn network and a few other little things...

is the .mp4 file in the correct aspect ratio for the psp??? if it's to big, then the psp wil not be able to read it...try converting the .mp4 file in pspvideo9 or 3gp..that way, you are sure the the file will work on your psp.

unfortunately our download section is down. hopefully it will be fixed soon.

but in the mean time, i have uploaded all of the files to rapidshare. so that people can still use the guide.

tanks for brining it to my attention.

also, i have updated the guide to include the v5.00m33-6 update.
