[Guide] How to manually install custom firmware v5.00m33-6

Warning!
As any manual custom firmware install, you must follow the following guide to the letter. If you deviate in any way, you stand a high chance of bricking your psp. If your psp does brick for some reason during this process, I nor PSPCrazy.com will not be held responsible for this. You have been warned!

Requirements for the update:-
A psp (fat or slim) on custom firmware v3.52m33-4 or above. See the below note (1) if your psp is on v3.51m33-7 or below.
v5.00m33-6 update folder "[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]" or see the attachment at the bottom of tha post.
v5.00 eboot "[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]" or [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
  • make sure that your battery is fully charged and your psp is plugged into the mains.
  • connect your psp to you pc via the usb cable and establish a connection. If you do not have a usb cable, you can use a memory card reader.
  • open the v5.00m33-6 update rar folder and copy the “UPDATE” folder to your “GAME” folder (found in the “PSP” folder”).
  • extract the v5.00 eboot to your desktop and rename it to 500. now copy that file to the “UPDATE” folder that you have just put into the “GAME” folder.
  • cancel the usb connection. Now go over to the “Memory Card” icon and press enter.
  • scroll down to the v5.00m33 update icon and press enter. The psp will then start to unpack and then verify the 500.pbp and u235.prx files. if the psp hangs at this point, power down the psp (this will not brick the psp), enter the recovery menu and change the kernal settings to "kernal 4xx" (or whatever custom firmware your psp is on). it will not work if the kernal setting is at "kernal 150".
  • when this is done, the psp will ask you to “Press X to start the update, R to exit”. If you are happy to continue, press X.
  • you will then see an update screen that looks exactly like an official update screen. Don’t worry about it, just follow the on screen commands. X to start, then right (on the D-pad), press down to “Accept” then right, now right again. Now press X to start the update.
  • the psp will now update to v5.00m33. During the update, DO NOT remove the power or power down the psp. You will brick the psp.
  • after the initial update, you might get a blue screen of death. don't worry, simply press O and the psp will reset itself. congratulations, your psp is now on v5.00m33-6.
Note 1:
If your psp is on v1.50 to v3.51m33-7, then you can not simply use the v5.00m33 update folders to update as we were able to in the past. First you must install v3.52m33 then update to v3.52m33-3 or -4. click “[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]” for a good guide on how to do this. but if your psp is on v3.52m33-3 or -4 or above. then you can use this guide to update.

Note 2:
if you intend on using homebrew on a FAT psp, then you must install the v1.50 kernal patch. you can download this patch "[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]". if you have a slim and you wish to run older homebrew apps/game, then you must use a "Time machine". you can download it "[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]".

Re: [Guide] How to manually install custom firmware v3.90m33-2

try putting the "UPDATE" folder in to the "352" folder and make sure that your kernal is set to 352 in the recovery menu.
