Okay, Noobish mistake that everyone does that just starts off with a psp is, they try to update to CFW ((Or M33 firmware)) From official firmware. What FW do you have?

so looking through this site, i noticed there are a lot of versions of CFW. noobish question coming up: why can't there be only one so everyone can start using it and avoid confusion?

Every time(or close to it) that Sony comes out with a new firmware a custom firmware comes out also. This is to enable the new features that Sony has implemented and enable you to play the newest games. Sony from the start has made it to where to play a new game(or video UMD) you will have to upgrade your PSP in order to play it.

Pandora battery(service battery) and magic memory stick is your only way to get custom firmware installed.

Read up in the tutorials in the tutorial section just to get an idea of what is going to be required.

The magic memory stick is going to be pretty easy.

The battery on the other hand may take a little doing. You will have to hardmod the battery which means cutting it open and cutting a leg off of an IC. Unless you are real good at soldering it will mean that you are going to have to buy another battery. The pandora battery can also be bought online from the likes of eBay or amazon.
