The only way you can do anything with that is to use a pandora battery and magic memory stick. There is no need to downgrade, with the pandora battery and magic memory stick you will go directly to a custom firmware depending on what the memory stick was made for. If it is a slim you can't downgrade past 3.60 and that would not help you anyway. With pandora the need for downgrading has gone the way of the dinosaur.

Even if a new custom firmware did come out you would still need the pandora battery and magic memory stick to install it. You can not simply go from an official firmware to a custom firmware by upgrading. Only a 1.50 phat can do that. If you have a phat then the only way to get to 1.50 would be with the pandora setup and that would be a wasted step.

Hi Gandalf, I am sorry for my ignorance I just want to know if the pandora baterry is different from my PSP battery and the magic memory stick, because I never see it in the store, anyway I am from japan, and I want to learn more because here in japan we always use to buy the UMD games. I have also the psp 4.01, I want to play games from my memory stick.
Please guide me.

Thank you in advance.

Due to fact that the pandora battery and magic memory stick are hacking devices you won't find them in retail stores. You can however purchase them online from the likes of eBay or Amazon.

You can make them yourself, for the battery you have to cut it open and modify the circuit board inside, if you have a slim that can be pretty easy and you run a real good chance of being able to make it normal again, the phat on the other hand you will most likely need to buy another battery to operate the PSP normally.

The memory stick is easy to make and when you are finished you can just reformat it to return it to normal.

Yah I have a psp slim, OFW 4.01 but I got an information that this firmware does'nt have a downgrader yet? so how can I costumize my firmware? Is it true that I need to wait first for the downgader for me to costumize my psp's firmware?

Thank you in advance.

The last downgrader was for 3.50 phat. The slim does not have a downgrader and even if it did it wouldn't do any good. The slim can only go down to 3.60 and that cannot run any homebrew. No more downgraders will come out since the release of the pandora battery and magic memory stick. Using the pandora battery and magic memory stick you go straight to a custom firmware there is no downgrading.

Re: Putting Custom Firmware on 4.01 OFW

Hi, Gandalf,

I think i get what earn2learn means as i have same problem here.
I have Pandora Battery and Memory stick but in PSP Slim OFW 4.01, it didn't work. I have been looking around and googling but still can't find fix for OFW 4.01.

Do you have any idea how to downgrade?

Thanks.

Obviously you didn't read my post to closely. There is no downgrader. The only way you can do anything with the slim is to use the Pandora battery and magic Memory Stick. Have a look [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Is the battery properly made and working?

Is the memory stick magic gate supported, is it made correctly, are you using it correctly.

Thank you for the response.

So you mean no more downgrader will come? And all I can do is to customize my firmware using the pandora battery and the magic memory stick, but can I still load a game using my memory stick if it would be costumized? but I cannot only load the homebrewgame right? I want to buy a pandora battery online, but I am here in Japan, is it possible to order it online and deliver it in my country? thanks in advance

With the custom firmware you can play everything, you will only be restricted by the lack of programs that you seek, which will probably be 0. Online sales are the only way to buy them, the likes of eBay and amazon are your best bet.
