There is no big difference between v3.90m33-3 and v4.01m33-2. Or come to think about it, v3.90 and v4.01. personally, I think it’s sony trying to stop us installing and using custom firmware. the updates in v4.01 firmware were just little bug fixes. Nothing new or major was released.

The reason most people update, is so that they can play the latest games without the need of worrying if they’re custom firmware can run the game or not. In my case (and some other members on here), we update our custom firmware to keep our members updated with the changes and if the new custom firmware is worth updating or not.

Unless this is a brand new slim that came with 4.01 firmware on it and most of those are unhackable.
