Not too long ago a PSP battery had exploded in a Michigan school boy’s pants. The boy suffered minor burns and was sent to hospital. Police believe that the battery had overheated causing the battery to explode. It is possible that the battery could have been made by a third party as their have been small reports of PSP batteries exploding, but be aware that this is a very rare issue so don’t fear your PSP just yet!

This is really the reason why I don't like using my PSP on the go too often, even though I have Sony Batteries, really I hope its not much to ask but I wish someone could go test this and see what actually causes the battery explosions whether it is by overheating, 3rd party batteries etc.

I don't think a police squad will be able to figure this out

we need like people who know their technology.

This probably won't happen to me since I don't carry psp in my pants. Phone yes, but not gaming system. I wish my phone would explode in my pants, then I can sue apple.

interesting.....but just for that minor reason? regardless, it would be funny hearing of a case court like that. and if that ever happened to be (whether be phone exploding, or PSP battery) I would be more afraid of my litte "men"...

Actually there been a lot of reports about PSP battery explosions do some research. Modding your PSP battery (removing the 5 pins) making it a pandoras can cause and explosion.

A Florida man's PlayStation Portable was charging on his nightstand for about an hour until it suddenly exploded, sending the portable game system flying.

Bob Nixon was watching television and smelled something burning. While he was walking around his home to find the source of the smell, he heard a popping noise which turned out to be his PSP exploding. Battery pieces scattered and the nightstand suffered a burn mark.

I am pretty sure you can sew if it just explode out of know were?

that is crazy...i carry my psp in my pocket a lot i'll think twice next time and just cary it in a backpack
