Try saving it as TGA instead of PNG, sony used TGA as the default format for the default themes, it'll work! (use gimp, its way easier than PntShpPro)

Re: Convert PNG image to 8 bit index (32 bit) color?

I switched it to TGA, it still wont take it, and when it rejects it I get a message to use TGA/PNG/or one other thingy, and to make it 64 x 48, as well as to make it the correct color index. If Ive got the first two perameters correct then I gues either its the color index or some other thing Im not aware of? I do have a transparent background on the icon so the box doesnt apear around it, could that be causing it some trouble?

Re: Convert PNG image to 8 bit index (32 bit) color?

How do I save it as the 8 bit index whilke keeping it as a file that the program will accept? If I save it as 32 color bitmap, bitmap being the only 32 bit/8 bit index file, it will turn into another file and wont be accepted anyway. Plus for some reason the icon for the file looks normal when I select it in paint's open browser, but paint screws up the colors as I open it and the colors turn to mostly black or dark shaded colors.

Yeah, 8 bit looses the amount of colors you can have in an image. Generally the smaller the bit, the less quality it is.
