Re: can i downgrade my wii

I dont think you can. All you can do is wait for a updated version for the chip you installed to support the newer firmware.

The firmware has nothing to do with you being able to play burnt games or not.
Check to see if you chipped in right. It could be that your chip is not compatible with your wii.
Or it could be that you burnt the wrong game. Try to burn it at a slower speed. And get the game that is in your region. There are some games from a different region will not play on your wii.

Re: can i downgrade my wii

Sure it has.. It's the same as every other console. The firmware is preventing hacks etc.

The chip might work on firmware "2.0" but they might added another security check in "3.0" which the chip has no work around for yet.

Re: can i downgrade my wii

I am at the lastest firmware on my wii and I am still able to play burnt games.
They can't prevent you from doing a wii drive hack a firmware update. If they could, why would they release different wii drives? (d2a,d2b,d2c) When they could just release their system with the newest firmware?

Re: can i downgrade my wii

yep coolie is right. I updated mine also and i can still play it. It depends on if u installed the modchip right and if u used the right dvd w/ the right burning speed and u have to make sure if the burned game is compatible also.

Re: can i downgrade my wii

I have a Wiikey installed in my Wii, If you have the same then to play certain games i.e mario Galaxy you will need to update the chips BIOS.

I had to update my chip to version 1.9b to be able to play Mario

Once i burned the chips FW to a disc and ran the update i had a working copy of galaxy.

Goto your chips manufacturers website and see if there is an update.

If the Wiis firmware is preventing you playing copied games you will get

"Error 001# Unauthorised device detected"

This means the Wii has detected your Chip.

Hope this helps.
