Legend of Zelda-Twilight Princess

well, a review hasn't been done yet so i will do one.

The Legend of Zelda TP review

Controls

at first, the legend of zelda tp was developed for the gamecube, but with the announcement of the wii, they started to develop a wii version also. many people have asked if the controls feel "tacked on" because of this. they are absolutly wrong. the controls are great, it's more immersive than ever. the aiming controls for the hero's bow and other items you get are awesome, i get head shots (i know, i know) every time i shoot, and with an upgrade you get eventually, it just improves even more. to swipe the sword, instead of just pressing a button, you actually SWIPE the sword. and the best part, your arm doesn't get tired

using the wii-mote does not feel awkward at all, and when i go to play some gamecube games, i feel awkward using the other controller.

(picture of link using his Hero's bow)

Graphics

a beautiful gamecube game, the graphics are great but could have been better, especially on the wii. don't get me wrong, they are terrific....but sometimes when running, the ground blurs a little, a mountain side has detail, but if you look at it to long, it's not that great. now for the good. the graphics nonetheless are impressive. the water effects are awsome, some of the best i've ever seen. the world is huge, basically anywhere you can see, you can ride to. every once in a while, you'll look and see unexplored temples looming in the distance.

the twilight realm graphics are wonderful, everything is shaded lighted and the black debris effects are great. it's almost as if they have made two different zelda games.

(Link getting ready to fight three lizard men)

Sound

The sound i would say is the only flaw, and it was a minor flaw too. the new songs are great and immerse you into the game. the sword swiping sounds and others heard through the wii-mote are great. the only problem i experienced with this is sometimes it crackles (very rarely). even though the songs are great, they could have been orchestrated, instead of being MIDI compositions. last but not least, voice acting would have completed the picture and make you feel more like link, and not some person reading voice script.

(Orc raiders harrasing Link)

Gameplay

the gameplay is great, some temples from ocarina of time were remade and put on the wii, and they are awesome. as in true zelda fashion, i got stuck several times on the puzzles, but eventually prevailed. as always, the fighting and puzzle aspects of zelda were greatly incorperated into each other, and worked hand in hand. with over 9 temples, this zelda is HUGE! hyrule is immense and is said to take 45 minutes to run across. hyrule field is 5 times BIGGER than ocarina. Ocarinas lake looks like a puddle to Lake Hylia in Legend of Zelda TP. once again, using the wi-mote feels better than ever. i found myself many times reminising on my favorite temples while struggling on the one i was currently on. truly amazing.

the wolf form is great. there are many times where you have to switch back and forth between link and wolf-link, and i always look forward to it. even though you're faster, the attacks are weaker except one. using the b-trigger , a forcefield surrounds you and can lock onto 5 enemies, each dealing a killing blow. using the wii-mote for the wolf is also great. there is no other way to do it.

Lasting Appeal
with 9 temples, this game takes quite a while to finish, but once you do, what are you going to do afterwards? no need to fear, just riding around hyrule on epona could satisfy you. fishing is awsome, there is even a sort of fishing resort and it is great! with many mini temples and the infamous CAVE OF ORDEALS, there is much to do. just swimming around in lake hylia is fun. you can revist the temples and gather the rest of the treasure there, to save up for expensive equipment (cough, third armor, cough). the mini games are also fun, like boating down the river for example. you can also try to beat the final boss, for fun, (no spoilers) without taking any damage, quite a feat.

(Link caught a fish!)

Presentation

basically every thing i have said, combined. the graphics are stunning. hyrule field and the 9 temples are immense. sorta dissapointing for no voice acting and orchestrated music, but it still is excelent. wolf form is just as enjoyable as link himself and i find myself roaming hyrule at night in wolf form. controls are great and don't feel tacked on. aiming with the bow and other items is awsome and swiping the sword, and using shield thrust are great and really add on to the the immersment factor of this game. this is the BEST ZELDA EVER MADE.

Controls- 10 out of 10
Graphics- 9.5 out of 10
Sound- 9 out of 10
Gameplay-9.8 out of 10
Lasting Appeal- 9.5 out of 10
Presentation-9.8 out of 10

Overall-9.7 out of 10
One of the best games of all time, period.

Re: Legend of Zelda-Twilight Princess

The game is great but 9.7 out of 10? How can you justify giving the graphics a 9.7 when there are games like Gears of War out there? I rate the game a 8.7. Controls can be frustrating at times and the graphics are definately not the best ive seen. Outstanding story and good elements keeps this game on top of the Wii list. But it falls very short of perfect.

Re: Legend of Zelda-Twilight Princess

this is my own opinion. and is the game for x-box360? no its for wii, which can't handle graphics as well and the graphics are great, i'm not going to lower the score a ton just because the graphics arn't unbelievable. if anything graphics are the least important for me.

Totally agreed! but I still do think that the graphics for zelda:tlp is awesome, even though it was made to fit the gamecube graphic power. One of the best game out there...and YES! I can say that it's better then gears of war.

Re: Legend of Zelda-Twilight Princess

I just got this game last night, but I have to say I am fairly disappointed. I think the controls are novel at first, but after awhile I find myself wishing for a standard controller. The lack of voice-acting was a HUGE let-down...it's time for the Zelda franchise to live in the now. The graphics are great for the Wii, but they're still not much(if any) better than the gamecube. As far as the story, maybe that is the saving grace. I don't know yet. Anyway, so many places have been saying this is the best game of the year, or even all time. To that I say a definite NO. So far, I have had a lot more enjoyment out of Wii Sports(especially bowling), and I am a HUGE Zelda fan.

As for the controlls, I find that it is not super responsive, and I don't always get the twist attack when I shake the nunchuck, etc. It had great intentions, but I have to say the controls feel VERY "tacked on."

Anyway, the review was really well written, I just can't say as I personally agree with much of it.
