Xbox live Arcade Game Reviews

I'm going to start a thread here with reviews of the different Xbox live arcade games. since they are short and so many, and because many are also rehashes of old games we have played before I think that reviews in the Form of a comment here would be great. People please add in your own because I am sure I will not ever get them all.

Mods if you have a problem with this type of review setup for the arcade games please email me before deleting my thread as I would like to pull off my comments and recreate the Reviews with them... Personally I think this will work best you decide..

Mortal Kombat3 review

It's MK3 what can I say, pretty much the same old game with nothing extra aside from perhaps a few characters but even then my memory does not exactally serve me (was smoke in MK3?). So basically the only thing here to review is going to be the Graphics, controlls, and multiplayer

Graphic end its no different than its Sega/Nintendo conterpart, one thing you will notice with the 360 version is that it seems a bit faster paced, like your characters move faster or something... Call it Mortal Kombat turbo if you will.

The Controls gave me a bit of a headache, and it took me a while to figure out all of the moves to my favorite characters, and while I was never good at delivering fatalities I am awfull trying to figure em out on the 360's controller. One thing that gets tons easier is throwing fireballs and simular related moves with the analog controller. These are noticeable easier than with the Dpad.

It's Multiplayer is fun, easy and affords me the ability to Beat my brother down online and not have to suffer the constant shoulder punches.

Overall this game is just like the old one but with the added multiplayer it shows it's worth. not a bad pickup for xbox live.

Score 4/5

Super Street Fighter 2 Review

Honestly I think that because this game had a simple setup for the special moves is why it traslated so easly to an analog pad. I picked up Ryu and began handing people their asses imediately. So lets do the breakdown for SSF2.

Graphics- As with every Arcade game I have seen ported to the 360 the graphics have not been overhauled or anything special. its the same.

Controls- For once the controls are actually better and easier than its old version. Uppercuts and fireballs have never been easier to pull off in combat! I love the controlls in this game.

Multiplayer- while it has less options than MK3 its multiplayer is about the same, one thing I enjoy is it is easy to find someone to play against.

Overall- If you only download one fighter game on Xbox live this one is the one to get! much better than mk3 even though it has less characters and options the games simple fighting controlls give it the edge on overall fun. easy to pick up and play like you were 10 again.... 4.5/5

Doom Review

The doom frachise had sucked litterally months of my life right through my fingertips, and that is why I love it. replaying this classic doom game on my 360 was a treat. and for once I actually finished the game without imputting IDDQD or IDKFA into my keyboard.

Graphics- Ill sound like a broken record here and say again that they are pretty much the same. one nice addition is that the overall game speed is faster and your movement is faster.

Controls- As stated above things have been sped up alteast, while it might make it easier it also helps keep you interested in completeing the game. one thing I wish they had implemented is giveing you the ability to aim, yes its shoot the guy in front of you type combat again with this ol' copy of Doom.

Multiplayer- Sadly I need to get my ass online and give it a try before I can complete this review... look for this to be updated sometime this week.

Overall- One of the better games to grace the Xbox live, with its Nostalgia the Doom series is always welcome to Xbox live and I hope that I see Doom2 as well as a few ID classics like Heretic on Xbox live soon. if you like FPS and you have played Doom before then this one is worth picking up.. Great game one of the few I will give the coveted

Contra Game Review

Contra is the classic side scroller shooter that started it all, was it the first? I have no idea. but it sure started it all for me and I am sure it started it for many others out there. Now the one thing I notice is that this is not the Contra that we all remember from our NES days, this is the Port from the Arcade but our favorite 30 continues cheat is here in its full glory. so lets give you the breakdown.

Graphics- Old skool Contra we all remember!

Controls- The Analog stick fits right in with this sidescroller shooter making aiming even more acurate and easy.

Multiplayer- Co-op just like on the origional, I am not sure if Online Co-op is offered but I will fill in this blank when I get home.

overall- If you are big on nostalgia then you may be disapointed to see the port coming from the Arcade version and not the NES version. Why they went this route I have no idea as the platform version is more reconized perhaps they thought we would like it better to have a slightly new feel to it.
with its Port coming from the Arcade it prevents me from giving it a 5/5 but it is still a good game and worth picking up over many others. final Verdict
