| GamingCrazy Rookie ![]() | Elite 360 Bricked New Out Of Box? Note: This is a smidge ranty, and Ive tried to tell my story in detail, so its a bit leanghty in that regard, thanks in advance for your time reading over it. So, I finaly got my elite model 360. The power supply it comes with, first of all, does not even FIT the console, its got some sort of non matching plug stopper to apparently prevent the very type of power cable from being plugged into it. Ontop of that the power supply no longer has a grounding plug ( O_o? and why not? ) and has a plastic tip rather than a metal tip that plugs into the back of the console itself. now not to complain but I paid more for this model than I did the previous and they seem to have put in a inferior power unit thats not even compatable with my model, given if it were compatable, you guys know if its actually better that they did it this way? I called Microsoft, they told me to get a replacment from the store. So, back to the bus stop for me. I get the replacement, and turn it on. Nothing comes on the screen, and six seconds later I get the three red lights, also known as the Red Ring of Death. ... So, is it possible I still just have the wrong power supply ( Im only using the microsoft power supplies of course, maybe I need a specific and exactly right power supply for my elite model?? ), since the replacment has the grounding plug, or possibly the console is more or les power effeicient to cause a red ring of death from the power supply differences, or would the red ring of death indicate that the power supply is not the cause of the problem. Ive already checked too, that the AV cables are in and its not the four lights simply indicating the tv cables arent plugged in? Im also wondering what the chances of buying a "brand new" unit and actualy getting a refurbished model are, since I see some chips around the edges of the case and a couple knicks here and there and Im wondering if perhaps my factory sealed package was a refurbished-and-claimed-as-new-dud (for clarification, this was indeed a "brand new" unit as I dont touch used/refurbished consoles). I will say, despite my aggrivations Ill give Microsoft credit that my launch day 360 is currently dancing on the grave of this brand new improved version of the x box. So, any ideas of what I might be doing wrong, and do you guys know if Microsoft will give me any sort of compensation for my aggrivations and how to redeem such compensation if any, assuming Im indeed doing things right and its just bricked? I plan to take the console back tomarrow to switch it for another new system, but dern this stuff is aggrivating and costing me my days off and travel costs to take care of this problem, I feel like Ive just been kicked in the teeth yet again by microsoft, pardon my negativity. I do appreciate the support, though Im trying not to asplode on any of the Microsoft support staff over the phone (id rather yell at the people actualy responsible for my aggrivations instead of pushing it on the phone opperators, as little as they know their actualy trying to help us and deal with the mistakes the higher-ups caused). I do plan to have it replaced tomarow though through the store I bought it at. |

The 360's been replaced via the kind people at my local funcoland, The non RROD'd replacement had the correct tips and everything works just fine, which makes me think that my botched system with the light chips/scratches versus this replacement was either mispacked, dropped, or switched out by an employee or something in the factory, but to be honest I cant say those with cerainty, at least its been removed from the shelves now. I will say when the plastic non grounded tip works pretty well, its much more easily removed and inserted than the metal tip on my original model, Ive always been concerned with useing too much force to mremove it but this seems to help that problem.
