Can I transfer an xbox 360 warrenty?

Ok, im sure some of you remember me back in the day of the psp craze, and some might even remember when I bought my xbox 360 off ebay several months ago...anyways here's my deal.

Microsoft is coming out with an update next week that will give a new interface and feel for xbox 360, it will also include netflix streaming which is what I want this update for. i bought my xbox 360 as a media machine that I could watch movie from like pay-per-view. Anyways, I read an article on this update and apparently a Microsoft technician stated that this update will bring alot of rrod issues and there will be many pissed off people. The reason they are releasing the update on the 19th is because all the original xbox 360's that were released during launch will go out of warranty and thus those people will be screwed....sorry im kinda ranting at the same time lol...anyways, I was trying to see if my xbox 360 has any warranty left and if so, how much. I figured out that you have to register your xbox online and thats how you know your warranty information. So i tried to register it and I got an error that my serial is already registered. (guess from the ebay seller I bought the xbox 360 from a while back) I went ahead and googled to see if I could transfer my warranty and I got various answers such as, "No, its impossible" "Yes, if you know the original owners information". These answers are dated back in 2007 though and i am sure microsoft has changed things now. Basically, I have a used xbox 360 and its registered under someone else's name that I do not know since it was so long ago....can I transfer my xbox 360's remaining warranty to me without knowing who its registered to???? Cant they just trace where my xbox live account is signed into as proof its my xbox??? How does this work???

I'm now too scared to do this update because im afraid i'll get the rrod and be screwed like all the people whom bought the launched xbox 360.

well surely you can remember when you got your 360. check up your back purchases on ebay website...then register it online with MS, they will have previous owner, but still do it now stating when you bought it, as for NXE and RROD, it is rumour atm, but you can still keep the blade current system, look i dont think MS would bring NXE out knowing it will cause RROD on a massive scale and peoples 360's will be out of warranty, it will push people over to sony and the PS3, I would go that way if it were true and happend to me..

dont panic, register, update, enjoy..
