Icon5 Is it worth to buy HD LCD TVs?

Xbox 360 has more than 160 HD games. They say that the graphics becomes even more better on bigger screen with HD format which increases the maximum resolution. Is there very big difference between 1080i and 1080p? Is 720p the starting point of HD format. If I want a HD TV, what brand should I buy with nice price?

1080i looks a bit blurry, 1080p is very clear and crisp. there's not a huge difference unless you have a big tv and are the type to notice. aka, me. smaller tv's usually dont have 1080p even if theyre described as being HD. 720p is the norm for all sizes, especially below 42". if its below 42", it is generally hard to find a tv that is 1080p (theyre 1080i if anything), because on such a size, its just not cheap enough to make it 1080p. there are some tv's under 42" that can display 1080p but theyre pricey and uncommon.

also consider, do you want an LCD or a plasma? I say this because personally I prefer plasma for its deeper blacks, cheaper price tag, and quicker response time. LCD's cant get as deep of a black, but I love horror games and horror movies so I prefer it as dark as possible, its not necessary or noticeable unless you watch/play those types often. for price, theyre pretty much the same quality of tv if its the same company, same size tv, same capabilities, but plasma tv's can generally be a bit cheaper. just good to save a bit of dough. and finally some LCD's have a slow response time, sometimes at .8ms. some can be faster but plasma's response time is instantaneous. example, scroll your mouse to the left and right. see that drag? if you have an environment heavy game, in say, an fps, and you have a slow response time tv, the image will be a bit blurred. sometimes it can be dizzying. but there are tons of LCD's with response times of .2ms and such, go for those

as for brand, there's tons of great companies. think of it this way, if you've heard of them, theyve got some quality. aka, sony, samsung, panasonic. if its a name that youre having trouble pronouncing or you really cant remember even hearing about them, go for a known name. they may cost more but theyve gotten where they are for a reason.

basically, go to bestbuy, futureshop, etc. and talk to the guys. see the tv's in action. tell him the size youre looking for, the resolutions, preferred brands and preferred price tag area and he'll try and help you but see the tv's on at the store and see how they work and what they look like. you dont wanna JUST use the internet, though it isnt a bad source by any means. it just shouldnt be your only way of deciding which tv to get

ohhh, and one last thing. yes plasma tv's can get burn in, trust me its very easy, I have one. I played mgs4 like crazy and my life bar, solid eye, and mk22 were burned in but it went away from playing other games. give the tv a break every hour, pause and watch tv for 10 minutes, mix up your games, dont play the same game 15 days in a row, play one, play another, next day do it again, the mix of colours is good for it. also just look at the game, if it has a life bar or a radar, watch out for that if youre going plasma. I prefer plasma but it isnt as carefree as LCD's sadly, but its not a bad style of tv by any means, I love them

1080p is absolutley required. If you wait until a couple more weeks depending on where you live there are going to be major price drops on LCD and PLASMA tv's. LCD seems to be the most reliable as complaints have been against plasma's and their life span. But again completely up to you. I will be buying a 52 inch 1080p LCD HDTV in two weeks.

Also under 42 inch will be available @ 1080p. Seriously look through your circulars you won't be dissapointed. Sears is already previewing their black friday sales.
