JUST TO CLARIFY, THE DOWNGRADE WORKS ON ANY 2.50/2.60 AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT USE THE TA-082 BOARD, TO CHECK IF YOUR PSP HAS THIS BOARD VIEW THE IMAGE BELOW

"Someone told me that a downgrader for 2.50/2.60 was impossible. How does this work?"
This one uses another more risked technique (and i repeat: untested) than the mph downgrader. It uses some sony libraries found in the 1.50 updater to perform the most critical steps, the logical format of the flash, and the ipl writing. See technical details for more info about how it works.
This software requires that someone with a 1.50 runs a little program and send you the output so you can init the downdate process. (by legal reasons i cannot provide those files directly, that’s why this is needed). The 1.50 program is TOTALLY safe, it only dumps the flash of a 1.50 user and it also extracts some special prx’s found in the 1.50 updater.
Instructions for the 2.50/2.60 user ----------------------------------- Its recommended to have at least 18mb of space on the memory stick even after putting the downgrader on the memory stick
1) The contents of the ZIP to the root of you memory stick
2) load gta and the eLoader
3) In the eLoader menu, choose the downdater test. WARNING: the program won’t output any display and any warnings, it will load the downgrader process inmediatelly.
4) You’ll see the your memstick flashing. That means that your psp is being flashed from the memstick. You won’t see any type of output in the screen (this is for safety). When the memstick finishes of flashing, WAIT at least a minute, and then reinit your psp by holding the power button.
5) That’s all. If all went right, you’ll have 1.50. If it went less good, you’ll still have 2.50/2.60. If all went wrong, you’ll have a bricked psp(except in the case you have the modchip) Remember that you have accepted that risk.
Technical details ------------------
This program performs the following operations.
- It loads the ipl_update.prx and lflash_fatfmt.prx from the 1.50 updater.
- It performs a logical format of the flash0 partition using the function sceLflashFatfmtStartFatfm t found in the lflash_fatfmt.prx
- It writes a dump of the 1.50 flash0 to the flash0.
- It writes the Initial Program Loader (Ipl) using the functions sceIplUpdateClearIpl and sceIplUpdateSetIpl from the ipl_update.prx module. The ipl is embedded in that module.
Other considerations: -------------------- IF YOU BOUGHT YOUR PSP AS A 2.50+ PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT THISAS THERE IS A HIGH CHANCE THAT YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PSP (AKA A VERY EXPENSIVE PAPERWIEGHT) THIS BETA-DOWNGRADER IS FOR PPL WHO HAVE UPDATED 2.50/2.60 - Users with TA-082 psp’s shouldn try this. Also, it may be better that at the beginning, only users with a 2.50/2.60 NOT from factory (they updated from a below firmware) try this.

I saw some of u were w8ing for the official release... so that means the official release is tested and proven that it will work ryt and doesnt brick ur psp ryt???
so this beta version is a risk.....
hmmm...... maybe ill w8 for the official release.... besides my psp is 2.71..... (T_T) huhuhu!!! w8 for another 3 months b4 they come out with an exploit.....

i am so tempted to downgrade but not yet i am going to weght till the full relese. i am not bricking my white psp. it was 1.5 and i updated at christmas i new there wold be a downgrader coming out some day.

Just follow the instructions to the T and make sure your PSP is the right kind...my downgrade went without a hitch, and I'm back to where i started - 1.50!!!

it worked for me fine, but it went a little diff than the directions said it would. After running it for about a minute a blue screen showed up and said press O to reset factory settings and i did. no restart required.

when the official release comes out ill get it cause it will b at least more safe...i cant afford to buy another psp cause then ther will b NO WAY to downgrade cause of the new motherboards..

This worked on my test PSP, my good one has always been a 1.50, my tester is a broken PSP I bought for 2 dollars at a garage sale! I upgrade it sometimes and downgrade it often, and wanted to see if this works glad to say it does! Tricky though.

For the people wondering if it would work with a factory made 2.5/2.6 PSP, as far as i've read, it won't you need to have had 1.5 and upgraded to 2.5/2.6 in order to downgrade. But i may be wrong on this, anyone else know?

so i take it then that no one has ever tried it..idk i dont see why it wouldnt work because the usb does charge it, i mean thats how i charge mine an all its pluged into my computer and charges there, so as long as i keep it pluged in it will be charging just as if it was plugged into the wall..

After a week of should i risk bricking my PSP I finaly went for it. Started the downgrader left the room for 5 mins came back ...............Wow it worked Factory 2.5 now a 1.5 and me in the dog house as i aint stopped playing since.
