The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed some new details on Kingdom of Hearts: Birth By Sleep. Kingdom of Hearts was featured at TGS 2007, and it was one of the best games featured this year for PSP. This Kingdom of Hearts focuses on three main characters, Terra, Ven, and a third character, as featured in a Kingdom of Hearts II Final Mix movie.
An interview with Tetsuya Nomura, director of this project, stated that development for this game started long ago, but was stopped due to the amount of content that ended up going into Re: Chain of Memories.
This game has three different scenarios, each of which are told form the perspective of Terra, Ven or the third main character. The play style is different for each of the three characters, mostly because of their different personalities and various abilities. Tai Yasue said that instead of playing scenario after scenario, players will have to use certain characters to clear certain sections.
Nomura states that out of the three recently announced titles the PSP version will be the closest to the previous games to give the player the feeling the series is known for. In a different interview, Nomura also said this game will be having a similar battle system to Re: Chain of Memories, in which your commands are in the form of a deck.
A few new gameplay systems are being worked on also. There is also a Character Growth System being featured, which looks interesting. Youichi Yoshimoto, co-producer also said they are thinking of a few systems where you can hook up your PSP with other players. Nomura states that this type of multiplayer system will be entirely different from the one on Nintendo DS. He also said the DS title will be only one with multiplayer gameplay, so PSP multiplayer is still insure. Yoshimoto also promised new Disney Worlds.
This game is shaping up to be another one of Square Enix’s masterpieces, let’s just hope they implement multiplayer mode for PSP.
