PSP’s Third Birthday!
Posted by Deltahawk12 46 days ago

Were back at that time of the year again, and our favorite portable console is now three years old! We at PSPCrazy remember that day back in 2005 when we all rushed to our local retail stores in anticipation of the portable unit, and only shortly afterward we formed the site to spread the love of the PSP to all. We did not know about the soon to explode homebrew scene or it’s great features such as skype and the internet browser, but we had high hopes for the unit and now it has something to show for! With one of the largest console homebrew scenes currently, the PSP is definitly a solid choice for not only gamers, but developers as well making it easy to try out new homebrewed application on the PSP.

Then before we knew it custom firmware appeared and the real customization started. New features, plugins started surfacing. Wallpaper customization went through the roof followed by themes later on. The library also formed a solid ground with a great combination of first party titles and third party titles leading us up to today where we are expericing fantastic titles such as Final Fantasy Crisis Core, and God Of War: Chains of Olympus.

The staff at PSPCrazy are thrilled to see the PSP come this far, and would like to hear from our readers on their past few years with there PSPs. Post in the comment blog below about your first PSP, when you got it. Was it a PSP fat or slim? What were your first games. Anything to do with your first encounter with the portable unit. Post below and don’t forget to wish your PSP a happy birthday!

Thanks to Genemech for reminding us about this great day!

Happy birthday to the much loved psp. i can remember the day when they were realised in the UK. i so wanted one. but i was sceptical about the hole thing and how good they were. so i waited to see what the press and the people had to say. after a while, i read and heard enough to decide to buy one. but at the time (mid to late 2005) there was only the black psp's available and i didn't much like them. but i read on the net, that sony had released a ceramic white psp in Japan. i done some searching and liked the look of the white psp. to cut a long story short, i finally bought a white ceramic psp on ebay from a person in Thailand (six to eight months before they were released in the UK. some of my friends were well pi$$ed with me...lol). but even before the psp was in my hands, i already bought some emu, iso's and some other stuff from ebay. little did i know, that the psp was v2.0 and i couldn't do anything with what i already bought. so i done some digging around on the net and discovered a way to dowgrade. and since then, the psp (and the the hole custom firmware) has gone better and better. im looking forward to see what the next few years has to offer.

Picked up my phat PSP on release day afternoon. Got Lumines and Darkstalker at the same time. I mostly got it for the portable playback of converted movies and not too long after that got into the whole 1.50 homebrew scene. Kept it on 1.50 until I finally upgraded to 3.10oe, then to 3.52m33 and so on. Absolutely the best handheld system I've ever seen and still is. Altho my video and mp3s went the way of my iPod Video 7 months later(needed the 30gb of space). Still my PSP is used at least 3 to 4 times a week playing games. Happy Birthday PSP, thanks for 3 years of enjoyment and looking forward to another several years!!!.

my psp start was when i went to a dvd rental store that i go to alot now, the owner who i talk to alot showed me the psp which completly blew me away. so i ordered my copy from japan(since it didnt come out in australia for about another 4-6 months). it was realy awesome, the graphics, the movie player, the possiblitys. having bought it home i searched the net for places i could download psp stuff. finding internet sites that were allowing psp encoded anime i was even more happy and then i searched for psp communitys. after a couple days i came across a new site called pspcrazy.com, i spent along time in the back ground downloading anime and movie, saying thanks but never leaving the psp section. wasnt untill a long time later that i explored the site and found a community of fun and entertaining people. the years have gone by, the psp has changed with some new features in the new model which i bought my first collectors edition ever (being the ff crisis core japanese slim box) the increase in ram was realy noticable on some earlyer games that i had and the tv link feature was a realy nice add on. im thankful for the psp and all its bought to me, anime, this community and a portable station that i use everyday. happy birthday psp looking forward to the future and the great evolution that sony portable station.

Happy Birthday to the PSP I used to have!! :o Ive had so many PSP's over those 3 years that Ive lost count and I now dont have one at all (I have use of one if I have the urge I just dont own one). I love the PSP, I love the way its designed, the games, the movies, the homebrew, hacking the hell out of it and making it look all pretty too :D. I have the feeling Ill own a slim by the end of the day though, just to celebrate ya know :sweatdrop:.

Hey, I tolds you about PSP's and FF7's birthday!! Well, I bought my first PSP phatty on November 29th, 2005, right on my 16th birthday. I stayed legal with it, buying and selling games until my battery gayed out and I bought a slim about a month ago. Then I was introduced to a Pandora Battery video and was inducted into the homebrew community. And since like a month ago I've been a professional Internet Ninja.
