Maybe this trend will be permanent after all. Nearly two months since a sudden spike in PSP’s being sold in Japan, largely due to Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, Sony’s handheld console has seen some impressive sales leadership and has consistently outsold all other consoles and maintained a significant amount of the total consoles actually sold.
Last week, the PSP sold 89,884 units, accounting for 39.91% of all consoles total. This week, the numbers show the PSP selling quite a bit less, 70,536 units to be exact (43.22% of the market share, which is actually up).
Despite how the PS3, PS2, and Xbox 360 numbers remained largely unchanged, the PS3 has been slipping for some now. Hopefully, games like Metal Gear Solid 4 will give this a nice healthy boost overall.
Here are your numbers:

- PlayStation 3 - 7,701
- PlayStation 2 - 7,022

total = 163,210
